Funeral services were held at the Gueydan Catholic church Wednesday afternoon for Richard A. Guidry, 9, who was accidentally killed Tuesday by his cousin, Curtis Abshire, eleven year old son of Mr. and Mrs. Paul Abshire of Gueydan, according to reports received in Abbeville. The funeral services which were conducted by Rev. A. F. Garneaud, pastor, were largely attended. The pallbearers were his classmates including Laurence Thirusoa, Claire Monceaux, J. C. Woods, Stanley Hungerford, Wilson Martin, Richard Harrington. Six of the youth's classmates were flower girls at the funeral. The youth is survived by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Lionel Guidry of Gueydan. Burial was in the Gueydan Catholic cemetery. Reports received in Abbeville declared that the two youths had returned from a hunting trip in the nearby woods of Gueydan and that they were conversing in the rear of the City Hall in Gueydan when Abshire's shotgun accidently discharged a load of bird-shell in his cousin's head. Reports state that the only witness to the accident was John McDaniels.
