His funeral will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 16, from St. Peter’s Catholic Church in Gueydan. The Rev. Mitchell Guidry will officiate. Burial will be in Gueydan Cemetery, with full military rites, under the direction of Matthews and Son Funeral Home of Gueydan. Visitation is 3:30-10 p.m. today, with rosary at 7 p.m., and from 8 a.m. Wednesday. A lifelong resident of Gueydan, Mr. Hanks was born April 24, 1914. He served in the Army in World War II. He was a member of Woodmen of the World. Mr. Hanks had a camp in Bundick Lake, where he loved to fish. He loved French music and, in his later years, to paint. He retired from Bradley Appliance. Mr. Hanks was a wonderful father and provider and will be greatly missed. Survivors include one son, L.J. Hanks and his wife, Bernita, of Moss Bluff; two daughters, Mrs. Glen (Lorraine) Ortego of Many and Mrs. James R. (Alberta) Hossier of Ankara, Turkey; five grandchildren, Darrell Hanks, Angie Holbrook, Lance Melendy, Katrina Milligan and Christopher Washburn; and four great-grandchildren, Heidi Holbrook, Joshua Holbrook, Coby West and Madison Milligan.
