A2 column 1 GUEYDAN — The funeral for John "Bascom" Marceaux, 79, will be at 10 a.m. today, Jan. 12, 2005, from Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church. The Rev. Francis Appuhamy will officiate. Burial will be in Andrus Cove Cemetery under the direction of Miguez Funeral Home of Lake Arthur. Visitation is prior to services. Mr. Marceaux died at 1:20 p.m. Monday, Jan. 10, in Crowley American Legion Hospital. He was a 30- year resident of Gueydan, moving there from Cameron Parish. He served in the Army during World War II. He was a retired cattleman and rancher, and he was a member of Cattleman’s Association and Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church. Survivors include three sons and daughters-in-law, James Lee and Donna Marceaux of Lake Charles, Malcolm Joseph and Marlene Marceaux of Gueydan and Keith Wayne and Ann Marceaux of Baton Rouge; one sister, Gene Trahan of Lafayette; one brother, John Bill Marceaux of Lake Arthur; 10 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Odelon and Celina Mallett Marceaux; wife, Mary Lee Daigle Marceaux; son, John Bascom Marceaux Jr.; and brother, Thomas James Marceaux. MILSTED, Flo Choate The Daily Iberian : New Iberia, LA 10/22/2005 Services for Flo Choate Milsted, 66, will begin at 1 p.m. Monday at Evangeline Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Jude Halphen, associate pastor of St. Peter’s Catholic Church, officiating. Interment will be at St. Mary Magdalen Cemetery in Abbeville. Visitation will be today from 2 p.m. until 9 p.m., with a rosary at 7 p.m. The funeral home will reopen Monday at 9 a.m. until the time of services. Mrs. Milsted was a native of Vermilion Parish and resident of New Iberia. She died at 1:52 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 19, 2005, at Iberia Medical Center. Mrs. Milsted was a very strong and courageous person, who showed her true strength in the 13 years she battled cancer. She loved and enjoyed being with her family and especially her grandchildren. She is survived by her husband, Eric L. Milsted of New Iberia; her daughters, Mona Lisa Broussard and her fiancee, Luke Lopez, of Parks, Ming Broussard and Erica M. Robicheaux and her husband, Kirk, all of New Iberia; four grandchildren, Brett J. Broussard, Miles, Luke and Grant Robicheaux; four brothers, George William Choate and wife, Julia, of Abbeville, Gerard Sellers and wife, Joel, of New Orleans, Paul Sellers and wife Cindy of Cameron and Edgar Dearborne of Texas; four sisters, Delores M. Snead and Tessie M. Stephens and husband, Terry, all of Erath, Elaine M. Champagne and husband, Sid, of New Iberia and Kathy Menard of Delcambre; and her aunt, Etheline White of New Iberia. Mrs. Milsted also is survived by Nancy Menard of St. Martinville, who thought of Flo as her mother; her special and longtime friend, Barbara Breaux; and numerous friends who helped care for her during her illness. She was preceded in death by her parents, George William Choate and Louise Ophelia White Menard; and her daughter’s fiancee, Dale C. Lachausse. Pallbearers will be Brett J. The Daily Iberian : New Iberia, LA 12/02/2005 ABBEVILLE — A Mass of Christian Burial for Ruth Ann Miller Motty, 86, will be conducted at 1 p.m. Saturday at St. Mary Magdalen Catholic Church. Interment will follow in St. Mary Magdalen Cemetery. Visiting hours will be observed today from 6 p.m. until 9 p.m. with a rosary being recited at 7 p.m. at David Funeral Home. Visitation will resume Saturday at 9 a.m. until the time of service. A resident of Abbeville, Mrs. Motty died Tuesday, Nov. 29, 2005, at her residence. Ruth's Insurance Agency was in operation for 51 years when Mrs. Motty retired at the young age of 75. Mrs. Motty was an avid gardener, collector extraordinaire, exquisite cook and baker, a creative designer of handwork of all kinds, and one who gave generously of herself to so many. Mere, as she was fondly known, by her grandchildren and great-grandchildren will be missed. She leaves "her wealth" in her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren so that her legacy continues to live.
