His funeral will be at 2 p.m. today, May 31, in Matthews and Son Funeral Home. Burial will be in Gueydan Cemetery. BERTRAND, Julius American Press:2006 Dec 12 Julius Bertrand, 83, of Lake Charles, died at 4 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 10, 2006, in his son’s residence in Gueydan. He was a native of Welsh and lived most of his life in Lafayette, prior to moving to Lake Charles in 1986. Mr. Bertrand served in the Army during World War II. Survivors include three sons, Richard Bertrand and wife Carol of Lake Charles, Darrell Bertrand and wife Patsy of Sulphur, and Don Bertrand and wife Sue of Gueydan; one daughter, Donna Bertrand of Houston; 16 grandchildren; and 34 great-grandchildren; one brother, Alex Bertrand of Winnie, Texas; and one sister, Mildred Sonnier of Winnie. A daughter, Elaine Bertrand Miller, preceded him in death. A funeral Mass will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 13, from St. Martin DePorres Catholic Church. The Rev. Keith Pellerin will officiate. Burial will be in Consolata Cemetery under the direction of Johnson Funeral Home. Visitation is 3-9 p.m. today, with a rosary at 6 p.m., and 8 a.m.-1:30 p.m. Wednesday in the funeral home. BLOOMFIELD, Hazel LCAP 01/31/06 Hazel Plaisance Bloomfield, 85, died at 7:46 a.m. on Sunday, Jan. 29, 2006, in a Lake Charles hospital. Mrs. Bloomfield was born Sept. 5, 1920, in Lyons Point to Frank and Agnes Plaisance, who preceded her in death. She was raised in Gueydan and had lived in Lake Charles for the past 50 years. Hazel was an employee of Weingardens in Lake Charles for 27 years. She was a member of South Central United Food and Commercial Workers Union, the Ladies Alter Society of St. Margaret Catholic Church and the VFW. Mrs. Bloomfield was preceded in death by her husband, Clayton “Buddy” Bloomfield; brothers, Percy Plaisance and Ernest Plaisance; and parents, Frank and Agnes Plaisance. She is survived by one sister, Gladys P. Istre; and brother, Harry Plaisance and wife Virgie, all of Lake Charles; five nieces; five nephews; and great and great-great-nieces and nephews. Funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 1, in the chapel of Johnson Funeral Home. Father Marcus Johnson will officiate. BONIN, Richard Donald LCAP 06/11/2006 MORSE — Services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, June 12, 2006, at St. Peter’s Catholic Church of Gueydan for Richard Donald “Donnie” Bonin, 73, who died Saturday, June 10, at Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital. Interment will be in Gueydan Cemetery with full military rites. The Rev. Donald Pousson will conduct the service. Mr. Bonin was a native of Gueydan and a resident of Morse. He served in the Army in the Korean conflict. He was a barber for 42 years. Survivors include his wife, Norma L. Bonin of Morse; three stepsons, Ray Richard of Morse, Mark Joseph Richard of Morse and Mark Anthony Richard of Gueydan; four stepdaughters, Penny Brown of Lake Charles, Missy Bellard and her husband, Jimmy, of Lake Charles, Jenny Petry and her husband, Clayton, of Gueydan and Sharon Perry of Lake Arthur; one brother, Dallas “Bubby” Bonin of Gueydan; and one sister, Ouida “Piggy” Bonin of California. He was preceded in death by his parents, Dallas and Ouida LeBlanc Bonin; four sisters, Wanda Moone, Lucille Hartwell, Emily Blackman and Nita Hughes; and two brothers, Gus Bonin and Jerry Bonin. Daily Iberian 03/27/2006 ABBEVILLE — Services for Agnes LeBlanc Boudreaux, 91, will be conducted at 3 p.m. Tuesday at St. Mary Magdalen Catholic Church with the Rev. William Blanda officiating. Interment will follow in Our Lady of Lourdes Cemetery in Erath. Visiting hours will be observed today from 10 a.m. until 9 p.m. with a rosary being recited at 7 p.m. at Vincent Funeral Home. A native of LeBlanc Community and a lifelong resident of Abbeville, Mrs. Boudreaux died Sunday, March 26, 2006, at Eastridge Nursing Home. Mrs. Boudreaux was a member of St. Mary Magdalen Catholic Community. She worked at Mt. Carmel Elementary in the cafeteria for approximately 11 years. She was a seamstress for Lylian Shoppe in New Orleans sewing handmade children’s clothing and christening sets. She also did alterations for family and friends. She is survived by her son, Hayes J. Boudreaux and wife Deanna of Lafayette; a daughter, Faye B. Suire and husband Boniface of Erath; eight grandchildren, Claudell Thibodeaux and husband Joey of New Iberia, Ryan Suire and wife Becky, Scott Suire and wife Jill, Nicholas Suire and wife Jennifer, Ashlie Suire, all of Erath, Kimberly Paul and husband Donald M., and Elizabeth Touchette and husband Scotty, all of Lafayette; eight great-grandchildren, Brae Leigh, Tatem, Mackay, Luke and Rylie Suire, Don Chris and Grace Paul and Dylan Touchette; and two step-great-grandchildren, Taylor Perrin and Dustin Lemaire. Broussard, age 85, a resident of Lake Charles, LA for the past 50 years died at his home on January 13, 2006. Mr. Broussard, a native of Vermillion Parish, graduated in the first graduating class from Meaux High School and pursued a career in the oilfield, working for Parker Drilling Company as a Drilling Superintendent in several of the United States, as well as Manaus, Brazil in South America, settling in Lake Charles in 1955. He worked as a Lab Technician for Firestone Tire and Rubber Company and retired after 23 years of service. He was a WW II Veteran and a member of the American Legion Post #1 for 46 years. He was a parishioner of Our Lady Queen of Heaven Catholic Church and a past Grand Knight of Knights of Columbus Council #4562. He was a devoted Catholic and served his Lord through his hard work for family and friends. He will be missed by all who knew him. He is survived by his wife of more than 64 years, Leola Marie Richard Broussard; two daughters: Linda Greathouse and husband George Greathouse of Terrytown, LA, and Sharon Ray and husband Dr. Sidney Ray of McKenzie, TN; four grandchildren: Robert B. Gwaltney and wife Tammy of McKenzie, TN, Lady-Jessica Thompson Rapalo and husband, Rene of Mandeville, LA, Joseph C. Gwaltney and wife Kim of Paris, TN, and William (Bill) Joseph Thompson, II and wife Gina of Covington, LA; and seven great grandchildren: Samantha Marie and Hannah Grace Gwaltney of TN, Steven L. Csillag-Rapalo, Devin and Autumn Rapalo; Jade Elizabeth and William Joseph (Joey) Thompson, II of LA. Mr. Broussard is also survived by one sister, Lillian Meaux, of Kaplan, LA and God-children, Sean Keenan, of Lake Charles, LA, Sister Juanita Breaux of LaComb, LA and Ida-Jo Breaux of Lovington, NM. He was preceded in death by his father, Leon Broussard, mother, Amelia Dartez Broussard, and one great- grandchild, 3-week-old Camdon Gwaltney.
