Jr. LCAP 07/28/2006 LAKE ARTHUR — The funeral for Mr. Joseph E. Flash Jr., 93, will be at 11 a.m. Friday, July 28, 2006, in the First Baptist Church with Dr. David Savage officiating. Burial with military graveside honors will be in the Lakeview Cemetery under direction of Miguez Funeral Home of Lake Arthur. Funeral home visitation will be 4:30-10 p.m., today and 8-10 a.m. Friday when the body will be taken to the church. Mr. Flash died at 8:33 a.m. Monday, July 17, at his residence in Lake Arthur. A native of Crowley, he was a graduate of the Gueydan High School and a graduate of LSU-Baton Rouge. He was a Lake Arthur resident for many years. He served in the U.S. Marines during World War II and received the Silver Star. He was a former Boy Scout leader and retired plant chemist for Conoco with 38 years of service. He was member of the Bayou Chicot Masonic Lodge and a member of First Baptist Church, Lake Arthur where he was a former Sunday school teacher and deacon. Survivors include his daughter, Adele Suzanne Flash Wardman of San Clemente, Calif.; son, Robert Brent Flash of Lake Charles; one sister, Earline F. Cormier of Gueydan; brother, Mark R. Flash of Baton Rouge; eight grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph E. and Mable Abbott Flash; his wife, Adele Marie Laurents Flash, who he was married to for 67 years; one son, Joseph Earl Flash III; and two brothers, Percy Flash and Myron A. Flash. Photo included with article FOREMAN, Hilda Trahan LCAP 04/03/2006 GUEYDAN — Services will be at 3 p.m. Tuesday, April 4, 2006, at St. Peter Catholic Church for Hilda Trahan Foreman, 77, who died Saturday, April 1, in a Lake Charles hospital of an extended illness. Interment will be in Gueydan Cemetery. The Rev. Mitchell Guidry will conduct the service. Mrs. Foreman was born Sept. 22, 1928, to Eslay and Aline Trahan. She married Minice on May 29, 1944. She was passionate all of her life about her Catholic faith, family, sewing, gardening and cooking. She was a member of the Ladies Altar Society, Catholic Daughters and the Mrs. C.P. Zaunbrecher Scriptural Rosary and Prayer Group. Survivors include two daughters and sons-in-law, Judy and Roland Guidry of Gueydan and Arline and Daniel Bellard of Lake Arthur; one son and daughter-in-law, Lester Foreman and Sandra Trumps of Gueydan; five grandchildren, Cindy Guidry Sonnier and her husband, Mike, Andy Guidry and his wife, Kay, Jodie Foreman Robbins and her husband, Roy, Jeremy Foreman and his fiancee, Heather Breaux, and Frances Bellard; four greatgrandsons, Scott Sonnier, Zachary Guidry and Joseph and Joshua Robbins; one brother, Kersey Trahan of Gueydan; two sisters, Sarah Richard of Scott and Delores Hebert of Lafayette; and numerous nieces, nephews and godchildren. She was preceded in death by her mother Aline Trahan in 1931, her brother Charles Trahan in 1966, her brother Hugh Trahan in 1968, her father Eslay Trahan in 1977 and her husband Minice in September of 2004. The family has requested that visitation be 10 a.m.-10 p.m. today, April 3, with a rosary at 7 p.m., and from 8 a.m. Tuesday at Matthews and Son Funeral Home of Gueydan, (337) 536-9377.
