After an illness of two weeks, Minos Camille Broussard, died Thursday morning at his home near Lake Simonet, aged 62 years, one month and 4 days. Mr. Broussard was a native of this parish where he was born in 1838 and was a proniment [sic] and influential citizen. During his lifetime he held many position of trust. In politics he was always a staunch Democrat and was appointed tax collector of the parish in 1879 upon the restoration of the white people to power in the State. Early in the 70's when cattle stealing and lawlessness was so rampant throughout this section. Mr. Broussard was one of the leaders in organizing the good citizens into a vigilance committe [sic] who hung a number of noted characters and ran others out of the contry [sic]. He leaves a wife and several children, among whom rre [sic] Rapheal, at Erath, Zach B. deputy clerk of court, Mrs. Desire Lachausse.
