Buford, a former resident of Vermilion parish, died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. W.J. Quick, at Lake Charles, on Friday, Oct. 17, 1930, at 1:45 p.m., at the age of 86 years. The funeral was held Saturday, from the residence of his daughter, Mrs. W.J. Quick. Interment was made in the Graceland Cemetery. Pall bearers were: three grand sons, Eugene, Donald and V.L. Caldwell, Jr., one son-in-law, W.J. Quick and Walter and George Hebert. He is survived by three daughters: Mrs. W.J. Quick and Mrs. Jessie Buford, of Lake Charles and Mrs. V.L. Caldwell, of Abbeville; four sons: Sidney and Edmund, of Lake Charles, William J., of Houston, Texas, and Nolan Buford, of Erath. Mr. Buford was born in Terrebonne parish in 1844. In 1893 he came to Vermilion parish and was engaged principally in agriculture for a number of years.
