Mr. Cashat died at 8:28 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 25, 2000, in the Cameron 
hospital.

Suzanne Villien Cassedy, a retired teacher at Evans High School, died of
breast cancer at 5:55 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 26, 2002, at her home. She was
57. Mrs. Cassedy was born in Abbeville, and had lived in Evans, Ga, for
the past 26 years. 
Mrs. Cassedy attended Mount Carmel Elementary and High School in
Abbeville and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Education from the
University of Southwestern Louisiana in Lafayette. She taught French in
Franklin and New Iberia. She moved to Evans in 1976 where she taught
English at Evans High School from 1976 to 1992 when she retired.
Mrs. Cassedy was active in breast cancer organizations and cancer support
groups. She was a member of the Phi Mu Sorority at the University of
Southwestern Louisiana from 1963 to 1967.
She is survived by her husband, Joe Ben Cassedy of Evans; a son, Kevin
Cassedy of Athens, Ga.; two daughters, Kelley Cassedy of Alpharetta, Ga.,
and Joanne Cassedy of Evans; her parents, Dr. and Mrs. Paul O. Villien
Sr. of Abbeville; one sister, Yvette Villien Bethea of Baton Rouge; six
brothers, Dr. Marc J. Villien and his wife Pat of Maurice, Thomas J.
Villien Sr. and his wife Kateri of Charlottesville, Va., Dr. Richard P.
Villien of Lafayette, Douglas L. Villien Sr. and his wife Karen of Baton
Rouge, Dr. Paul O. Villien Jr. and Brock Bravo of New Orleans. 
She is preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. John
W. Lewis Jr. of Lafayette and Dr. and Mrs. J.A. Villien Sr. of Maurice.
A memorial service will be held at Platt’s Funeral Home in Evans at 5
p.m. Saturday, Sept. 28. The family will receive friends from 3 p.m.
until service time. If so desired, please send donations to the Susan G.
Koman Breast Cancer Foundation or the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society,
Georgia Chapter 2625, Cumberland Pkwy. Suite 205 Atlanta, GA 30339, the
family said. 
A memorial service and visitation will also be held at Delhomme Funeral
Home in Maurice on Thursday, Oct. 3. Visitation is 10 a.m.-2 p.m. A Mass
celebrating her life will follow from St. Alphonsus Catholic Church, at 2
p.m., with burial to follow the church cemetery.

Olive V. Castaine, 80, died Monday, June 10, 2002, in a local hospital.
She was a native of Gueydan, and she had lived in Cameron for 65 years.
She was a receptionist at the Cameron Hotel from 1982 to 1989. She was a
member of Our Lady Star of the Sea Catholic Church. She was a member of
the Catholic Daughters, the Altar Society, the Legion of Mary and the
Sacred Heart of Jesus.
Survivors include one son, Bobby LaLande of Cameron; one daughter, Brenda
Nash of Cameron; 13 grandchildren; and 29 great-grandchildren.
Her funeral will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, June 13, from Our Lady Star of
the Sea Catholic Church. Monsignor Louis Melancon, the Rev. Joseph
McGrath and Deacon Roy Nash will officiate. Burial will be in the church
cemetery under the direction of Hixson Funeral Home of Creole. Visitation
is 11 a.m.-10 p.m. today, with rosaries at 3 and 7 p.m.

Monsignor Charles Dubois will officiate. Burial will be in Highland
Memory Gardens Cemetery.

Mr. Chapman died at 1:15 p.m. Saturday in a local hospital.
He was a native of Gueydan and lived in the Lake Charles-Moss Bluff area
for most of his life. He moved to Longville 18 years ago. He was a
retired shift supervisor at PPG. 
He served in the U.S. Army in Europe during World War II. He also served
in Korea and was a recipient of the Purple Heart. He was a member of the
Purple Heart Club of Lake Charles and VFW Post 2130. 
Survivors include his wife, Mary Jane LeBoeuf Chapman of Longville; two
sons, Roy Chapman Jr. of Longville and Mark Broussard of Ragley; two
stepsons, David Stephens of Eunice and Byron Stephens of Youngsville;
three stepdaughters, Jenell Miller of Kinder, Charlene Darbonne and
Connie Gardner, both of Iota; one sister, Dorothy Marie Rish of Lodia,
Ohio; 14 grandchildren; and 21 great-grandchildren.

HOUMA — John Carbbert Chatagnier, 87, died at 10:20 p.m. Monday, July 29,
2002.
He was a native of Gueydan. He served in the Army during World War II. He
was a member of Lenox Hotard American Legion Post 31. He was the holder
of patent No. 4,081,990, an oil-field pipe-testing tool. He was a retired
T.B.W. Industries foreman.
Survivors include his wife, Olive Viator Chatagnier of Houma; his
children, Dale Chatagnier of New Orleans, Johnny Chatagnier of Iota,
Gloria Lundberg of Odessa, Texas, Angela Hart of Jackson, Miss., Carla
Rhodes of Houma, Florence Miller of Cruger, Miss., Donna Boudreax of
Pearl, Miss., and Jamie Chatagnier of Baton Rouge; three brothers, Bill
Chatagnier, Joe Chatagnier and Woodrow Chatagnier, all of Iowa, La.; one
sister, Cecile Rizzuto of Gueydan; 21 grandchildren; and 18 great-
grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents, Walter Joseph
Chatagnier and Celestine Mott Chatagnier.
His funeral will be at 1 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 1, from Our Lady of Prompt
Succor Catholic Church of Coteau. Burial with military rites will be in
the church cemetery under the direction of Chauvin Funeral Home of Houma.
Visitation is 5-9 p.m. today, with a rosary at 6:30 p.m., and from 8 a.m.
Thursday in David Funeral Home of New Iberia.

ERATH - Funeral services will be held at an 11 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial
Tuesday, Dec. 21, 2004, at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Erath, for
Harry Joseph Chauvin, 75, who died Saturday, Dec. 18, 2004, at Southwest
Medical Center.
The Rev. Wayne Duet, pastor of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, will be
celebrant of the Mass and conduct the funeral services.
Interment will take place in Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church Cemetery in
Erath.
Mr. Chauvin, a native of Abbeville, was the son of the late Serge Chauvin and
the former Elvina Theriot. He had served in the U. S. Navy. He retired as Fire
Chief of the Lafayette Fire Department after 43 years of service and a member
of the HOBO Firefighters organization. He was a former Commander of the VFW in
Abbeville and the American Legion in Erath. At the time of his death, he was
employed by Jackie Edgar Ford.
Survivors include his wife, Dorothy H. Chauvin, of Lafayette; daughter, Joan
C. Edgar and husband, Allen, of Lydia; son, Wayne Chauvin and wife, Vickie, of
Lafayette; sisters, Isabelle Hardy, of Abbeville, and Ella Kennington, of
Baton Rouge; brothers, James Chauvin, of Abbeville, Maldred Chauvin, of Port
Arthur, Texas and Paul Chauvin, of Santa Maria, Calif.; grandchildren, James
Atkins, Cody Chauvin and Nikki Chauvin; step-grandchildren, Rachael Edgar and
Allen "Frosty" Edgar Jr.; and one great-grandchild.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Pallbearers will be the Lafayette Fire Department Honor Guard.
Visitation will be observed from 10 a.m. until 10 p.m. today and will continue
from 8 a.m. Tuesday until time of services at 11 a.m.
A rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. tonight in the funeral home.

Norman Joseph Chuavin, Sr., 68, of Lake Charles died at 8:35 AM
Tuesday, November 16, 2004 in a local care facility. 
Mr. Chauvin was a native of Abbeville, LA and lived most of his life in
Lake Charles. He was a graduate of Marion High School. He served the
United States Army during the Korean War and was a member of the
American Legion Post #1. Mr. Chauvin retired from Schlumberger after 21
years of service. He enjoyed the outdoors and spent time camping with
his family. His favorite past time was bowling, as he bowled a number
of years with a league. His passion was for cooking and sharing his ?
masterpieces? with anyone who accepted the invitation. 
He is survived by his loving wife of 40 years, Betty Hanks Chauvin of
Lake Charles; three sons, John Michael Chauvin of Alvin, TX, Norman
Joseph Chauvin, Jr. of DeQuincy and James O. Chauvin of Lake Charles;
three daughters, Norma Jean Sovereign of Beaumont, TX, Shannon Alice
Caskey of Houston, TX and Roxanne Renee Harrington of Abbeville; one
step-son, Lynn Freeman Lyons III of Abbeville; two step-daughters, Mary
Ellen Bogan of Houston, TX and Becky Lyons Baxter of Baton Rouge; one
sister, Joyce Touchet of Lake Charles; one step-sister, Patsy Granger
of Oberlin, LA and fourteen grandchildren. 
Funeral services will be at 1:30 PM Thursday, November 18, 2004 in the
Johnson Funeral Home Chapel. Monsignor Charles Dubois will officiate.
Burial will be in Highland Memory Gardens. Visitation Wednesday will be
from 3:00 PM until 10:00 PM with a scripture service at 6:00 PM to be
followed by a rosary. Visitation Thursday will be from 8:00 AM until
the time of service in the funeral home.

Mrs. Clark died at 2:50 a.m. Sunday, May 6, 2001, in a local hospital.
A native of Kaplan, she had lived in Jennings for 65 years.
She was the retired owner of Clark's Goodyear Store. She was a member of
the Pink Ladies Auxiliary of the Jennings American Legion Hospital. She
was a member of Our Lady Help of Christians Catholic Church and an
honorary member of its Ladies Altar Society.
Survivors include two sons, Kenneth D. Clark of Jennings and Daniel L.
Clark of Spring, Texas; two daughters, Jeanette C. Moore of Houston and
Cheryl C. Lyons of Spring; three sisters, Lillian Broussard of Abbeville,
Lillie Mae Mire of San Antonio and Jane Guidry of Grand Coteau; 10
grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

A native of Abbeville, she was a resident of Sulphur for the past 60 years
and a member of Our Lady Prompt Succor Catholic Church.
Survivors include one son, Bobby James Clostio of Carlyss; one brother,
Dudley DuBois of Sulphur; four grandchildren; and five great-
grandchildren.

Mrs. Coleman died Friday, June 19, 1998, in the Sulphur hospital.
A native of Abbeville, she lived most of her life in Vinton. She was a
deaconess at Morning Star Baptist Church.
Survivors include four sons, Hollin Coleman Jr. and Donald Coleman,
both of Vinton, Phremo Coleman of Lake Charles and James Coleman
of Orange, Texas; three daughters, Barbara Starring, Annie Provost
and Jean Taylor, all of Vinton; 23 grandchildren; 29
great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

Mrs. Colligan died Monday, Jan. 15, 2001, in a local hospital.
A native of Abbeville, she had lived in Cameron since 1939, moving from
Ged. She was a member of Our Lady Star of the Sea Catholic Church and its
Altar Society.
Survivors include one son, James Albert Colligan of Lafayette; three
daughters, Joyce McCall, Deanne Colligan and Madeleine Colligan, all of
Cameron; six grandchildren; and 12great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Comeaux died at 7:45 p.m. Thursday, March 4, 1999, in a
Kaplan care center.
A resident of Kaplan, she was a retired school teacher who served
Vermilion Parish schools for more than 35 years. 
Survivors include one son, Dr. J.L. Comeaux of New Iberia; one
daughter, Marguerite C. Marceaux of Lake Charles; one brother,
James Picheloup of New Iberia; seven grandchildren; and nine
great-grandchildren.

Vinton.

Mr. Comeaux died Thursday, April 23, 1998, in Lake Charles.
A native of Kaplan, he had lived in Vinton for 40 years. He was an
Army veteran of World War II. He was a crossing guard in Vinton for
five years a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and a member of
the American Legion and the VFW.
Survivors include his wife, Eula Comeaux; four sons, Roland, Charles
and Tony Comeaux, all of Vinton, and Terry Comeaux of Lake
Charles; five daughters, Carolyn Comeaux of Sulphur and Mrs. G.L.
(Georgie) Moore, Mrs. Jerry (Linda) Perry, Mrs. 
Percy (Gail) Sweeton and Mrs. LeRoi (Lisa) Leger, all of Vinton; one
sister, Estelle Aube of Kaplan; 18 grandchildren; and 11
