CASSEDY, Suzanne V. — LCAP 9/28/2002 Suzanne Villien Cassedy, a retired teacher at Evans High School, died of breast cancer at 5:55 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 26, 2002, at her home. She was 57. Mrs. Cassedy was born in Abbeville, and had lived in Evans, Ga, for the past 26 years. Mrs. Cassedy attended Mount Carmel Elementary and High School in Abbeville and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Education from the University of Southwestern Louisiana in Lafayette. She taught French in Franklin and New Iberia. She moved to Evans in 1976 where she taught English at Evans High School from 1976 to 1992 when she retired. Mrs. Cassedy was active in breast cancer organizations and cancer support groups. She was a member of the Phi Mu Sorority at the University of Southwestern Louisiana from 1963 to 1967. She is survived by her husband, Joe Ben Cassedy of Evans; a son, Kevin Cassedy of Athens, Ga.; two daughters, Kelley Cassedy of Alpharetta, Ga., and Joanne Cassedy of Evans; her parents, Dr. and Mrs. Paul O. Villien Sr. of Abbeville; one sister, Yvette Villien Bethea of Baton Rouge; six brothers, Dr. Marc J. Villien and his wife Pat of Maurice, Thomas J. He was a former Commander of the VFW in Abbeville and the American Legion in Erath. At the time of his death, he was employed by Jackie Edgar Ford. Survivors include his wife, Dorothy H. He served the United States Army during the Korean War and was a member of the American Legion Post #1. Mr. Chauvin retired from Schlumberger after 21 years of service. He enjoyed the outdoors and spent time camping with his family. His favorite past time was bowling, as he bowled a number of years with a league.
