(Morgan City, LA) Saturday, January 15, 1921, page 1 LAFAYETTE MAN ACCIDENTLY KILLS SELF. - Gustave Duhon, father of Coroner J.O. Duhon, died at 2:30 o'clock Tuesday afternoon as a result of a gunshot wound accidentally inflited [sic] earler [sic] in the day as he was attempting to go through a fence on his plantation near Ridge, in the Second ward. Mr. Duhon had left his residence early in the morning to investgate [sic] damage done to his crops by hogs the past few days, and carried along with him a high-powered rifle. In crossing hs [sic] field he attempted to go through a wire fence and in some manner the gun was discharged. The bullet entered his right shoulder and ploughed its way through his body to the left shoulder. Mr. Duhon was well known and highly esteemed throughout the parish as a progressive farmer and good citizen and his death came as a distinct shock to his wide circle of acquaintances.
