(Abbeville, La.) 1856-1906, May 29, 1897, Image 3 Oft (sic) have we heard the old saying, "Go away from home to hear the news." In the last issue of the Bienville Bell we find the following account of the unfortunate causalty at Erath on the 9th inst, but fail to comprehend how such a confusion could grow out of the affair. "Last week, during a thunder storm at Erath, Vermilion parish, Joseph Kibbe was killed by lightning while sitting in his house. Three hours later while neighbors were assisting the family, the house was again struck by lightning and a Mrs. Gray killed."
