(Abbeville, Louisiana) Saturday, March 30, 1901, page 3 Death of Venerable Patriarch.- Tuesday night Simonet LeBlanc one of the oldest and most highly esteemed residents of Vermilion parish, died at his home on bayou Tigre aged 84 years. Mr. Leblanc was a noble specimen of the old partriarchs [sic] of the Acadian race. His hospitable home was always open and he who entered was sure of a warm Creole welcome. In his death the parish has suffered the loss of an estimable citizen and legions of friends mourn with the family. He leaves many descendants, among them are Elias Broussard and Mrs. John B. Shaw of our town who are grand children.
