Last Monday evening Mrs. Ferin Noel while riding a skittish horse in the lane near 
Emile Duhon's in the 4th ward about eight miles from town became the victim of a 
sad calamity. An ox cart loaded with wood was coming down the lane when her horse 
becoming frightened, reared, the saddle girth breaking she was thrown with great 
violence against the wheel of the advancing cart, and the oxen taking fright drew 
the heavy load over her prostrate form, crushing her so severely that she died in 
a few minutes. Her funeral which took place the next day was largely attended.
