JOSEPH PREJEAN OF SECOND WARD. - An automobile accident which resulted fatally for one, occurred last Thursday while Mrs. Ovignac Broussard of this place, and her sister-in-law, Mrs. Joseph Prejean, of the second Ward, were on their way to visit Mrs. Prejean's brother whose home is in Rayne. Mrs. Broussard was driving at a moderate rate of speed, but when a short distance west of Kaplan, near the home of Dixon Vincent, a cow walked out into the road, and in attempting to avoid a collision with the cow, Mrs. Broussard evidently lost control of the car, which plunged into the ditch and overturned. Mrs. Prejean received spinal injuries which resulted in her death Wednesday, Nov. 22, 1933, at 12:45 a. m. She was 62 years old. Mrs. Broussard received only a few slight injuries from which she recovered quickly. Immediately after the accident, Mrs. Prejean was taken to her home in the second ward. The funeral was held Wednesday afternoon at 3:00 o'clock, with services at the Catholic Church in Erath. She was laid to rest in the Catholic Cemetery at that place. Mrs. Prejean is survived by her husband; one daughter, Mrs. Albert Meaux, of Abbeville; one son: Francis, of Vermilion parish. Funeral arrangements were in charge of P. U. Bourque, local undertaker.
