Shaw, Zulma Bernard, aged about 68 years, died of pneumonia Monday morning at the home of her son-in-law, Mr. Rene Broussard, at Kaplan, where she had gone to spend the holidays. She was a daughter of the late Mr. Emile Bernard, of this parish, and was widely known and highly esteemed. In the year 1870 she was married to Mr. G. B. Shaw, who was a noted sheriff of this parish. The remains were brought here from Kaplan, being to the home of her sister, Mrs. Lucius Dutel. The funeral was held Thursday afternoon from the residence of her sister. At the Catholic church services were held, and the remains laid to rest in the new Catholic cemetery. The funeral was largely attended. She is survived by three sisters, Mrs. L. Dutel, Mrs. Elanor Smedes and Miss Marie Bernard, of this place; two daughters, Mrs. A. F. Cools, of this city, and Mrs. Rene Broussard, of Kaplan, and one son John B. Shaw, of Jeanerette.
