(Abbeville, Louisiana) Saturday, February 8, 1947, page 3 JULES SIMON. - Maurice, La., - Jules Simon, 86 died at 12:30 p.m. Wednesday at his residence in the second ward of Lafayette parish, near Ridge. The funeral services were held Thursday at 3:00 p.m. at St. Alphonsus Catholic church in Maurice with Rev. M. Veekmans, pastor, officiating. Interment was in Maurice. One of the parish's oldest citizens, the deceased was a retired, well-known farmer of the Ridge community. Surviving him are his widow, the former Emelie Leger, whom he married 67 years ago; two daughters, Mrs. Rousseau Domingue and Mrs. T. Bourque of Port Arthur, Texas; three sons, Victor of Lafayette parish, Gordy of Lafayette and Kossuth of Crowley; 27 grandchildren, 28 great- grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. Pallbearers were six grandchildren, Abraham Domingue, Mervin, Leon and James Simon, Isaac Broussard and Jerome Bourque. Funeral arrangements were in charge of Robert J. Guchereau with the First National Funeral Home of Lafayette.
