Stelly, a prominent citizen of Carencro, died suddenly of heart failure while out on a hunting trip at Second Lake near Melville. The remains were taken to Opelousas on a hand car, where they were prepared for burial, and then brought overland to Carencro. The deceased was a native of this parish and was 49 years and 4 months of age at the time of his death. He was a prosperous and successful farmer and always took a lively interest in public affairs. He was a man of fine character and possessed the respect and esteem of all who knew him. In his death the parish loses a good citizen and his family a devoted husband and father. His wife and seven children survive him. Funeral services, which were largely attended, were held yesterday at the Catholic church in Carencro. Rev. Father Grimaud was assisted in the services by Rev. Grace of Grand Coteau, Rev. La Forrest of Abbeville and Rev. Maring, president of St. Charles College, who preached the funeral sermon.
