Mrs. Welch died at 9:50 a.m. Friday, Nov. 30, 2001, in the Jennings hospital. She was a native of Gueydan and a longtime resident of the Lake Arthur- Jennings area. She was a 1937 graduate of Lake Arthur High School. She was a former member of the Lake Arthur Library Club. She was a member of First United Methodist Church and United Methodist Women. Survivors include two daughters, Karen Welch Profimo of New Orleans and Maryanne Welch Orgeron of Vera Cruz, Mexico; one son, Harold Wayland Welch Jr. of Lake Arthur; one sister, Ella V. Hoffpauir Sweeney of Lake Charles; nine grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren. Wimberly, 79, will be at 1 p.m. Monday, Nov. 26, from Our Lady Queen of Heaven Catholic Church. The Rev. John Giles will officiate. Burial will be in Consolata Cemetery under the direction of Johnson Funeral Home. Visitation is 3-8 p.m. today in the funeral home, with a Scripture service at 6 p.m. followed by a rosary, and 8 a.m.-12:30 p.m. Monday. Mr. Wimberly died at 4:45 p.m. Friday, Nov. 23, 2001, in a local care center. A native of Kaplan, he had lived in Lake Charles for 50 years. He was an alumnus of Kaplan High School, McNeese Junior College and the University of Southwest-ern Louisiana at Lafayette. He held a degree in music education. He was a band director at East Chambers High School in Winnie, Texas, for many years. He was a retired labor analyst for the state Department of Labor. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army Air Corp., and had served in World War II. He was a gunner and a bandsman, playing in the U.S.O. shows and dances throughout Europe. He was a lifelong musician and a former member of many orchestras, including the Lake Charles Community Band, Lake Charles Jazz Band, McNeese Jazz Band, Skyliners Dance Club, the Keynotes, the Blue Kings and Moosie Gory's Combo. Survivors include his wife, Cosima M. "Co" Graffeo Wimberly of Lake Charles; two sons, Walter F. and Brian J. Wimberly of Lake Charles; two daughters, Mrs. Mike (Susan) Sonnier of Ragley and Mrs. Bill (Stephanie) Tolin III of Lake Charles; and seven grandchildren. Mrs. Woods died at 6:40 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 7, 1998, in her daughter's residence. A lifelong resident of Gueydan, she was an active member of Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church, and a recipient of a special award from the Diocese of Lake Charles for her devoted service to the church. She was also selected Mother of the Year by the Catholic Daughters in May 1978. She was a member of the Ladies AltarSociety, the Come Lord Jesus Program, and of various other churchcommittees. She was a graduate of Gueydan High School where she was the valedictorian of her class. Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Louis (Wilda) Trahan Jr. of Gueydan and Vernice "To-Tee" Marceaux of Thornwell; one sister, Mrs. Edward (Ina) Istre of Gueydan; 15 grandchildren; 42 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
