(Abbeville, La.) 1856-1906, September 12, 1903, Image 3 ABSHIRE -- GERNON MARRIED. - At St. Stephens Church, New Orleans, on Wednesday, Sept. 2, 1903, by the Rev. Father Judge, J. Allison Abshire and Miss Cora Gernon. The groom is a well-known young man, the son of John J. Abshire, a prominent planter and merchant of the 5th ward. The Picayune of Sunday maks (sic) this mention of the affair: J. A. Abshire and Miss Cora Gernon were married in St. Stephen's Church last Wednesday. There were a number of friends in the beautiful church when Father Judge performed the ceremony. The groom and bride were the recipients of a number of gifts, and after an informal reception left the city for their home in LeRoy, La., Mr. Abshire is a popular young business man of his town, while Miss Gernon was known in local circles for her charming accomplishments.
