GERMAN BIBLE RECORDS
(Rapides/Vernon/Sabine Parishes)
William German was an early settler of Rapides Parish in the area that
later became Vernon Parish.  He was buried in a pasture off LA Hwy. 111 and Old River Road near the
Vernon/Sabine Parish line.  At one time Hadden's Ferry was located here, and the area was quite
prosperous.
The tombstone inscription for this single burial was recorded in the
1970's, and published in the Louisiana Genealogical Society Register some years later.  Now after
years of neglect and abandonment, it was impossible to locate the burial site even after a repeated
search of the area
with a guide (1997).  Although location of the original Bible is unknown, a
copy of those records are in Folder 25-79, Jack Hadnot Microfilm, Vernon Parish Library, Leesville LA.
Entries are transcribed exactly as entered in the Bible and submitted by Jane P. McManus.

Louisa C. Wright was born on the 5th day of July in the year of our Lord 1815

Wm. German and Louisa C. Wright were married on the 7th day of March 1838
Births.
Virginia Elizabeth German was born on the 5th day of December on Wednesday
about noon in
the year of our Lord 1838.
Wm. Absolom German was born on the 25th day of June on Thursday about 1
o'clock P.M. in the
year of our Lord 1840.
Amanda Margaret German was born on the 28th of October on Friday about 2
o'clock P.M. in the
year of our Lord 1842.
Our fourth child was born on the 28th day of March on Friday evening about
10 o'clock in the
year of our Lord 1845.
Mary Anne Louisa German was born on the 22 of July on Wednesday evening at
early candle
light in the year of our Lord 1846.
Robert Lafayette German was born on the 10th day of February on Saturday
about 9 o'clock
A.M. in the year of our Lord 1849.
Laura Josephine German was born on the 9th day of April about 8 o'clock
A.M. on Friday in the
year of our Lord 1852.
Warren Alfred German was born on the 9th day of June on Saturday about 3
o'clock P.M. in the
year of our Lord 1855.
Wayne Theodore German was born on the 29th day of November 1857 on Sunday,
about 2
o'clock in the evening.
Deaths.
Wm. Absolom German departed this life on the 19th day of October in the
year of our Lord 1842
being 2 years 3 months 24 days old.
Our fourth child departed this life on the 8th day of April in the year of
our Lord 1845 being
eleven days & eight hours old.
Robert Lafayette German departed this life on the 10th of June 1856 Before
day in the morning of
congestion of the brain, aged 7 years & 4 months.
William Alfred German departed this life on the 1st day of May 1861 - being
5 years 10 months
and 21 days old.
William German departed this life on the 18th day of May in the year of our
Lord 1861 being 46
years & 11 months old.
