Eliza Jane Bass
Eliza Jane Bass (2 Dec 1874 LA/7 Mar 1942 LA), daughter of Jeremiah 
Moses Bass and Emeline Smith, married first on 8 Jul 1897 (Vernon),
to James W. Lawrence (21 Jan 1869/16 Jan 1907 LA, Good Hope Cemetery),
son of Frances L. Laurence and Margaret J. McGraw. Four children were 
born to this union. After James died, Eliza Jane married second on 10 
Jan 1909 (Vernon), LA, to Samuel Clinton Tippit (29 Oct 1878 MS/6 Sep 
1945 LA), son of David Thomas Tippit and Mary Martha Margaret Matilda 
Leona O'Bryant. They are buried in Welcome Cemetery, Simpson, LA. Five 
children were born to this union.
Eliza was an extremely religious woman, her training began early in life
from her mother and grandmother who were both charter members of Laurel
Hill Baptist Church. Eliza Jane was baptized in 1891 at the age of 17, 
and remained faithful to her religion her entire life. She transferred 
her membership in 1920 to another faith. 
The issue of James and Eliza Lawrence: (1) Lucretia (25 Apr 1898 LA),
married William Steven Cooley; (2) William McKinley (17 Nov 1900), married
Lily Mae Phillips; (3) Mary Jane (14 Apr 1903/23 Mar 1909); and Daisy 
Virginia Lawrence (28 Mar 1905), married Barney F. Goins.
The issue of Samuel and Eliza Tippit: (1) Marvin (26 Oct 1909), married
first Frances Wright, and second, Shirley Parker Bennett; (2) Pearlie Mae
(16 Apr 1911), married Edmund Cooley; (3) Woodrow (7 Mar 1913/16 Aug 1920
LA); David Thomas (19 Jan 1915/13 Mar 1969 LA), married Lavada Morgan; 
and Essie Emeline Tippit (31 Jan 1919), married Jason Jackson Parker.
