BUNCH, JAMES
James Bunch was born 24 March 1815 Bertie County NC and died 21 February 
1887 Vernon LA. He was a son of Elijah Bunch. James married ca 1844 
Rapides LA to Mary Bass. She was born 29 February 1828 LA and died 16 
March 1880 Vernon LA, daughter of James Bass and Emily Groves. Five 
children were born to this union.

James Bunch was a charter member of Laurel Hill Baptist Church in 1869 
when it was first constituted. Very soon thereafter, he was elected as 
a Deacon of the newly established church body. He, his wife, and all 
four of his daughters were charter members of the church.  

The issue:  Elijah (b. ca 1844-5/d. during Civil War); Caroline (4 
September 1845/5 September 1933 who married Louis P. Bayham; Catherine 
(6 March 1848/26 March 1929 LA) married to Richard Boyd & Charley 
Jefferson Burns (see separate biography); Elizabeth Jane (14 March 1850/
9 February 1911 LA) married to Andrew Jackson Boyd; and Mary Matilda Bunch 
(23 June 1853/16 June 1908) married John Henry Gorum.
