Marion Maris White
Marion Maris White (1 Jan 1844 AL/23 Oct 1920 Vernon, LA), son of
James M. White and Sarah Dryden, married ca. 1869/70 to Caroline 
McMillan (17 Jul 1844/18 Feb 1934), daughter of Murdock McMillan
and Helen Marr, and six children are known. They are buried in
Laurel Hill Cemetery, Vernon, LA.
Marion White was a farmer by profession, as stated on the 1880 Vernon
Parish Census records. He and Caroline were charter members of Laurel
Hill Baptist Church in 1869; they were shown joining again in 1880,
removed their membership in 1904, and rejoined by letter in 1919.
Their daughters, Mary, Ellen, and Sarah, also members of Laurel Hill
Baptist Church, moved their membership in 1904 when their parents did.
The known issue: (1) Mary C. (1 Jul 1870/15 Oct 1961 LA, Laurel Hill
Cemetery); (2) James M. (12 Jan 1873/6 Jun 1956 LA), married Mary
Terrell (7 Jun 1879/7 Dec 1935), both buried in Laurel Hill Cemetery;
(3) Sarah C. (12 Jan 1874/13 Apr 1970, Laurel Hill Cemetery), and was 
baptized into Laurel Hill in 1891; (4) Ellen A. (24 Aug 1876/27 Nov 1969,
Laurel Hill Cemetery), was baptized into the church in 1895, never married;
(5) Marion E. (21 Jan 1880/19 Dec 1951, Laurel Hill Cemetery), married
Lydia O. ? (10 Feb 1884/4 Mar 1975, Laurel Hill Cemetery); and (6) Martha
White (Jun 1884)
