Unnamed Cemetery (Ft. Polk # 7) - Vernon Parish Louisiana Submitted by Jane P. McManus ********************************************** Copyright. All rights reserved. http://usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://usgwarchives.net/la/lafiles.htm ********************************************** This small cemetery is less than an acre in size, is surrounded by a chain link fence, and is located approximately .5 miles south of LA Hwy. 10, just outside the Fort Polk Military Reservation. Near the front gate just inside the chain-link fence, there is a smaller old wire fence that encloses two burials. Most of the graves in this cemetery do not have tombstones, but are marked with large sandstone rocks at the head and foot. The few marked stones have eroded and are extremely difficult to read, and one stone is completely unreadable. Information from an earlier recording was used to verify the data. Tombstone inscriptions recorded from just inside the front gate on 11 January 1995 by Jane P. McManus. Submitted 3 February 2000.
