McALLEN/SMITH CEMETERY - Vernon Parish

From LA Hwy. 28 & 8 outside Leesville, go east toward Alexandria approximately 
11.0 miles. Turn south on an unimproved dirt road on the west side of a house.  
Cross the cattle-guard and go approximately .3 miles until road turns sharply 
right.  Cemetery is visible at the end of this road. The small family cemetery 
is well maintained with a chain link fence surrounding the property. Jack Hadnot 
(deceased) provided genealogical information in brackets when he originally 
recorded this cemetery in 1974. Tombstone inscriptions were recorded from just 
inside the front gate, front to back by Jane P. McManus, 2 November 1994.

        "Dearest loved one, we have laid thee in the peaceful grave's embrace;
         but thy memory will be cherished till we see thy heavenly face"
        [her husband, Caswell Pollard died during the Civil War & is buried in National
        Cemetery,
         New Orleans]
