Smith/Brewer Cemetery - Vernon Parish, Louisiana Submitted by Jane McManus ********************************************** Copyright. All rights reserved. http://usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://usgwarchives.net/la/lafiles.htm ********************************************** In Slagle at the junction of LA Hwy. 8 & 121, go east toward Simpson for 4.6 miles. Turn right onto a dirt road opposite a sign on left side of highway that reads "Mill Creek Kennels." Go approximately .7 miles, and turn right onto another dirt road. After passing large transformer towers on the left, continue for approximately .7 mile until road turns sharply right. Smith- Brewer Cemetery is visible at end of this road. The area outside the chain link fence is mowed and quite pretty. Inside the fence, there are two separate burial areas. On a slight rise to the left is a large cedar tree with several rows of graves. On the right are several rows in the flat area. Tombstone inscriptions were recorded as approached from the left hill side to the center while the right side was recorded from front to back fence. This small burial ground is maintained by the Brewer family. Recorded by Jane P. McManus, 6 May 1992, and submitted on 29 September 2000.
