From the post office on LA Hwy. 8, turn east onto Slagle Loop Road and go approximately .6 miles. Park on the north side of the road near a small dirt trail (hunting road) and walk approximately 100 yards. This small abandoned cemetery holds the remains of several of the Spanish community who worked in the sawmills around Slagle during the early 1900's. The fence has collapsed on one side, and tombstones are difficult to find among the weeds & forest underbrush. Inscriptions were recorded by Jane P. McManus, 7 December 1995, and submitted 10 October 2000. Garcia, Richard - [no dates] Garcia, Tom - [no dates] Garcia, Mrs. Sarah - 23 Feb 1852, died at the age of 72 yrs [1924] Torres, Joseph Lue Jene - 20 Mar 1916/2 Feb 1922 Garcia, Willie - [unmarked burial] [This burial was identified by Edmond Cooley of Slagle in 1980's. Edmond worked in the sawmill at Slagle when Willie was killed, and attended the funeral at this location near his home.]
