All rights reserved. http://usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://usgwarchives.net/la/lafiles.htm ********************************************** Take LA Hwy. 10 west from Oakdale toward Pitkin, and approximately 2.6 miles past the blinking light at Elizabeth (junction of LA 10/LA 112), turn right (north) on first road past the Vernon Parish sign. The West Cemetery Sign is at this corner. Go .6 miles and turn left at second West Cemetery sign. The cemetery is about .1 mile up this dirt road. The property is about one acre in size, well maintained, and a neat row of large cedars surrounds the cemetery on all four sides. The new chain-link fence has been erected outside the tree line. Inscriptions in this cemetery were originally recorded in 1979 by Charlene and David Wilkinson of Rosepine, and published by the author. That listing was used to verify some of the more difficult names and dates. Information on three burials were recorded at that time, but are no longer visible in the cemetery. Tombstone inscriptions were read from the front gate in zigzag rows from right to left by Mary Parker Partain, April 1993, and updated by Jane P. McManus, 9 May 1996.
