Tippit after being called by Elmer Branon. I found him lying on his right side with his right arm under him grasping the butt of a revolver which I removed from hand, after breaking it open found it to contain 5 loaded shells and one had exploded on examining the wound I found the entrance wound in the left nostril with the bullet ranging upward and backward passing out about 3 or 4 inches back from the eye brows the wound of exit was large ragged and contained blood clots and brain substance with the hair matted into it there was a little scorch or powder burn on a little short mustache. E.E. Archibald, M.D. Mrs. C.C. Tippit Being sworn deposes and says: That I was standing near center of room the gun was in the next store room. He went in there and came out by me after he got to the middle door he called my attention that he was in possession of gun and said he loved me but he was gone. I asked him to wait just one minute and let me talk to him. I think he backed out and turned and ran and shot as he ran I think. I don't remember hearing the report of gun. Mrs. C.C. Tippit I, W.C. Currie: Disposes and says that on 27th of February 1931 about 10:30 a.m. Mr. J.P. Ferguson of Alexandria, LA. and myself came to my garage on road between Kurthwood and Alco, known as Fisherville, and was informed by Mr. R.D. Owen that Columbus Tippit had just killed himself. Mr. Ferguson and myself went in the back yard and saw Columbus Tippit on the ground laying on his face with his right hand under the body with pistol partially in his hand. Some one turned the body over then I could see a wound in Forehead about the edge of the hair in front of the head. I asked where the ball went the head and Dr. Archibald said that the ball entered in one side of the nose. I did not examine the body and did not see any powder burns near the wound on top of the head. W.L. Currie Mr. J.E.
