  Parish of Vernon  }   Know all Men by these Presents

That I, J. B. McCollough married man now residing with my second wife
first wife maiden name Harriet Briant, resident of the Parish of
Vernon, State of Louisiana, for and in consideration of the sum of
$250.00 two hundred and fifty dollars to me in hand paid by Georgiana
Carruth have granted, sold and conveyed, and by these presents do
grant, sell and convey, with full subrogation to all my rights and
actions of warranty against all former owners and vendors, unto the
said Georgiana Carruth of the Parish of Vernon, and State of
Louisiana, all that certain lot or parcel of land situate in the
Parish of Vernon, State of Louisiana, to wit: 8 acres of land situated
in the SW corner of the NW 1/4 of the SW 1/4 of Sec 2 township 1 one
South of Range 5 West La Merd. all that part lying south of a certain
parcel running through said tract of land including all the
improvements thereon.
To have and to hold the above described premises, together with all and
singular the rights and appurtenances thereto in anywise belonging,
unto the said purchases and to heirs and assigns, forever; and I do
hereby bind myself and my heirs, executors and administrators to
warrant and forever defend all and singular the said premises unto the
said Georgiana Carruth, her heirs and assigns, against any person
whomsoever legally claiming or to claim the same or any part thereof.

Witness, my hand, at Pitkin, La., in the presence of Jerome M. Jackson
and J.J. Weldon lawful witnesses, on this 3rd day of July Anno Domini
One Thousand Nine Hundred and twelve (1912).

Before me, Jerome H. Jackson a duly qualified Notary Public in and for
said Parish and State, on this day personally appeared J. B. 
McCullough to me personally known to be the identical person whose name
is subscribed to within and foregoing instrument, and acknowledged to
me in the presence of Jerome M. Jackson and J. J. Weldon lawful
witnesses, that he executed the same on the date thereof, and that it
was his own free and voluntary act, for the uses and purposes therein
expressed.

      Witness my official signature and seal, at Pitkin, Louisiana, on
this 3rd day of July A.D. 1912

Additional Comments:
James B McCollough married Mary Olive Carruth, daughter of Wilburn
Posey (Doc) Carruth & 2nd wife Sarah Frances Ward, 13 Jan 1896.  Sarah
F. Ward Carruth died aft. 16 Jun 1880 and abt 1895, Wilburn Carruth
married 3rd wife, Georgiana (Georgia Ann) Davis.  Wilburn died in
1908.  So with this deed, James B McCollough is selling 8 acres of
land to his wife’s step-mother, Georgiana (Georgia Ann) Carruth
