Eddleman Where wife was born: "Itala" County, Mississippi (Attla) Date of wife's birth: November 28, 1853 Date of marriage: December 26, 1869; married one time Husband served in the 1st (Nelligan's) LA Infantry, Company B. Husband lived in Rapides Parish (Huddleston P.O.). Husband died from heart trouble March 10, 1905 in Robeline, LA (Natchitoches Parish). Marriage License: married by C.B. (Charlie B.) Burr, Justice of the Peace * Letter from Nathan S. Smart: "D.R. Knight was married first to Harriet Turner, whom he divorced during the Civil War. He divorced her in Alexandria while on furlough. He married second Viola P. Eddleman, who Mr. Smart said he went to school with. They married in December 1869 at Burr's Ferry." * Letter from N.B. Cain: "I have lived in Vernon Parish, La. virtually all my life. That I was acquainted with D.R. Knight and wife, Viola P. Knight, the latter being the daughter of Mr. John P. Eddleman, a resident also of Vernon Parish, Louisiana, and who was well known in that section of the state." "There were born to them five (5) children, whose names are as follows: John Knight, Ellen Knight, Thomas Knight, Daniel Knight, and Maud Knight. They are all now dead, except Maud, who later married C. L. Brewster, who lived in Alexandria, Louisiana. * Letter from R. Lee Davis, Lawyer: "The old family Bible and all records were burned..." * Letter from Mrs. Berilla Lovett: "My deceased husband, Dr. John Lovett, was his (D.R. Knight) nephew. D.R. Knight had two brothers and one sister, to wit, Thomas Knight and John Knight, and Ellen Knight, respectively. His sister Ellen Knight was married to Dr. Thomas Lovett. They had one son born of this marriage, to wit, Dr. John Lovett, who was my husband. I know that D.R. Knight married Viola P. Eddleman, daughter of John P. Eddleman. They were married on December 26, 1869 at Burr's Ferry. On their way back after the marriage, they stopped at my father, Jim H. Word's home, and stayed over the night with us. I was about 13 years of age, then, and remember the incident perfectly." * Letter from Mrs. Maude K. Brewter, daughter of Viola : "My mother, Mrs. Viola P. Knight, died May 4th, 1937...in Alexandria, Louisiana."
