Groves during the Civil War. Dear Wife I rite you afew lines to let you know how I am. I [am] not well. I am in the hospital at campmore [Camp Moore]. Have been for 16 days with the Measels but thak god I am able to stir about alittle. Don’t be oneasy about me for I intend to take cear of my self. The regiment leaves in the morning for Jackson, Missip but there are agreat many of us not able to go yet. I am afraid the yankeys will take us prisoners here. I could go with them but the doctors say it is the best for me to stay. We are whipped shore. Nothing more so good by to you. All yours truly husband, L. C. Sweat. April 30, 1862
