Sept 17th, 1878 Editor Vindicator: I send you herewith a list of the criminal cases disposed of at our last term of the District Court which was adjourned last night after being in session for seven days. Hons. E. F. Presley and J. Fisher Smith of Many, were present also Col. R. A. Hunter of Alexandria put in an appearance, he Smith and Presley were associated in the defence of Jacob and David Gunter who were indicted at our last term of court for the murder of one Calvin Bass, tried at said term of Court and found guilty and sentenced to the penitentiary from which sentence they taken an appeal to the supreme court and the case was remanded for trial. On motion of the district attorney the case was continued and Col. R. A. Hunter and E. F. Presley not having any other business, left for their homes.
