Editor Daily Town Talk: Yesterday evening, (Saturday,) as William Lot, Allen Scarber, and M. Naymour, were returning home from here, all somewhat under the influence of whiskey, Lot and Scarber became engaged in a little quarrel. Naymour suggested that they drop it, and go on to Lot's house, where they would get some coffee, and then all would be right. This they agreed to do, and all three rode on, Naymour riding between Lot and Scarber. When nearly in sight of Lot's house, Scarber suddenly drew his pistol and fired at Lot, the ball entering his body, Lot dismounted and remarked to Naymour "Al Scarber has killed me" and fell dead. Scarber than went on to his own house, informed his wife that he had killed Bill Lot, took his gun and left, and up to this time has not been arrested, although the sheriff and a number of citizens have gone in pursuit of him. Lot was a hard working, debt-paying man, and a good citizen; Acarber a wortless cowardly scamp. A Citizen.
