Burrows DICKINSON, Texas - Services for Thurl H. "Shorty" Burrows will be at 10 a.m. Thursday in Gravel Hill Baptist Church with the Rev. Arlen Smith officiating. Burial will be in Gravel Hill Cemetery under direction of Hixson, DeRidder. Burrows, 83, of Dickinson, Texas, died Sunday, Jan. 2, 2000, in Mainland Medical Center, Texas City. He was a World War II Army veteran and earned the Purple Heart. He was a member of the Hitchcock Masonic Lodge and was retired from Monsanto as a operator of 25 years. Survivors include his wife, Ruby Burrows of Dickinson one daughter, Sharlene Miller of Reeves two brothers, Russell Burrows of Lake Charles and Wattie Lynn Burrows of Dickinson four sisters, Oleta Dye of Spencer, W.Va., Juanita Heffner of Parkserburg, W.Va., Reva Hanshaw of Cleveland and Leota Leslie of Tennessee three brothers, Gerald Burrows of Cleveland, Clifford Burrows of Parkersburg, W.Va., and Myrul Burrows of Cochranton, Pa. and one great-granddaughter. Friends may call after 3 p.m. Wednesday in the church.
