CAIN - It reads: In Memory of Mrs. Wm. H. O'BANION - died April 10, 1913. One by one the old land marks pass away. Helena M. BYRD, wife of William H. O'BANION, was born Sept. 6, 1826 and died April 10, 1913, aged 86 years, seven months and four days. She was born [married] to Wm. H. O'BANION Aug. 7, 1842; there were born to this union ten children, two of whom preceded her to the grave.  Her husband has been dead several years.  She had sevety-nine grandchildren, one hundred and forty-four great-grandchildren, and six great-great-grandchildren.  She had lived to see the four generations of her family reach the enormous sum of two hundred and thirty-nine. She united with the Baptist church A.D. 1854 and lived a Christian life. She was buried beside her husband in the Stables cemetery, April 11, 1913, followed by a large circle of friends and relatives. W.H. CAIN NOTE: She appears on the Membership lists of Jackson Chapel church, now a Church of Christ and of Pine Hill Baptist Church. Stables Cemetery is also known as the O'BANION or GILL Cemetery and is in New Llano, LA.  It has been said that William H. O'BANION donated the land for the cemetery.  No proof of that occurance has been located in records. Markers were placed on this couple's graves in the 1960's by some of his grandchildren.  His erroneously shows his death year as 1890.  He was giving his property to two of their sons in 1896, stipulating they provide for he and Helena until their death.  Also, Helena applied for his Confederate Military Pension and it shows his death occurred 18 Oct 1899.  Helena's grave shows she was born 1827 and died 7 July 1907.
