Belford] MARSHALL RITE CARVER Funeral services for Marshall Rite Carver, 76, of Burr Ferry community who died April 15, after a long illness, were held Friday, April 17, at 2 p.m. from the Pine Hill church with the Rev. A. J. McKee, and Rev. Lloyd Jeanes, officiating. Interment was in the Pine Hill cemetery under the direction of the Hixson Funeral Home. He had lived his life time in Vernon parish and was well known by many friends. Surviving are his widow, Mrs. Laura Carver; five sons, Marshall Holiday Carver, Berkley, Calif.; Homer R. Carver, Lena, La.; Grover C. Carver, Carmel Valley, Calif.; Auston Carver, Anacoco, and Cullen Ray Carver, Ft. Worth, Texas. Six daughters, Beulah Cryer, Leesville; Cleoa Tilly of Anacoco; Calude Vay Willis, of Leesville; Grace Martin, Lena; Cecelia Hester, Albany, Calif; Lural Boyett, Leesville; 36 grand children and 15 great grand children. Four brothers: John Carver, Shreveport; Tom Carver, Rosepine; William Carver, Beaumont; Monroe Carver, Simpson. (Laura Carver was his second wife. They were married Oct. 24, 1954; no children.
