Cluney, 59, who died at his home in the Milford community at 2:30 last Friday afternoon; following a long illness, were held at the Pine Hill Baptist church at 11 o'clock Saturday morning. The Rev. P. W. Mitchell officiated. Burial was in the Pine Hill Cemetery. Mr. Cluney was a prominent citizen of Ward Three, where he had resided for many years. He had served about 35 years as postmaster of the old Caney postoffice, and had served as Justice of the Peace of that Ward for the past twenty years, which office he held at the time of his death. He was well known not only in his own Ward, but throughout the parish as well, and was held in the highest esteem by those who knew him. He had been in ill health for some time and had been confined to bed for several weeks. The deceased is survived by his wife and four daughters, Francis Cluney, Sadie Cluney, Catherine Cluney, and Helen Cluney, all of Vernon parish. Also surviving are two sisters, Mrs. Mandy James, of Burr Ferry, and Mrs. George Coward, of Deweyville, Texas, and one brother, Tom Cluney of Burr Ferry.
