Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Sunday, April 5 at Beauregard- Vernon Funeral Home in Leesville with interment following at Leesville Cemetery. The Rev. Ryan Horton and the Rev. Claude Leach officiated. Mrs. Britt was born December 27, 1915 to Mr. and Mrs. D. F. Turner, Sr., a prominent pioneer Vernon Parish family and went to be with the Lord on Friday, April 3. She was a lifetime Leesville resident, served as the Vernon Parish Registrar of Votes for many years. She was an active member of the First United Methodist Church and the Leesville High School Alumni Association. The Association honored Mrs. Britt during the 1997 Homecoming Celebration by naming her the Grand Marshall. Survivors include one son, Ronald Britt of Leesville; one daughter, Barbara Ann Swart of Rushton; two sisters, Mrs. Leta Edge of Folsom and Mrs. Emma Cabra of Leesville; one brother, D. F.Turner Jr. of Stamps, Ark.; and two grandchildren. Mrs. Britt was preceded in death by her husband, Orval Britt; her parents; two sisters, Mr. C. B. Owen and Mrs. A. o. Smith; and one brother, W. C. "Bill" Turner. In lieu of flowers, the family requests expressions of remembrance be made to the First United Methodist Church Building Fund or the Leesville High School Alumni Association.
