The Rev. Carroll Teal will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery under direction of Johnson Funeral Home. Visitation is from 11 a.m. - 10 p.m. today in the funeral home and from 9 a.m. Tuesday in the church. Mr. Johnson died at 7:30 a.m. Sunday, June 7, 1998. in a Lake Charles hospital. A native of Cravens, he lived in Lake Charles for the past 53 years. He retired as a rigger with Brown and Root Construction Corp. and was a member of Gravel Hill Baptist Church. Survivors include his wife, Gertrude Comeaux Johnson; two sons, S.J. Johnson Jr. of Valliant, Okla., and Roger Dale Johnson of Lake Charles; one daughter, Marie Huckeba of Lake Charles; two brothers, Claborn Johnson of Beaumont, Texas, and Albert Johnson of Cravens; two sisters, Gladys Carroll of Cravens and Desia Gill of Buna, Texas; five grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
