All rights reserved. http://usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://usgwarchives.net/la/lafiles.htm ********************************************** Huel Johnson Funeral services for Mr. Huel Johnson will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 31, 2002, in the Hixson Funeral Home chapel in Leesville with the Rev. Arlen Smith officiating. Burial will follow in the Drakes Fork Cemetery under the direction of the Hixson Funeral Home of Leesville. Mr. Johnson, 93, of Johnsonville, passed away, Aug. 28, 2002, in the Byrd Regional Hospital in Leesville. He was a native and lifelong resident of the Johnsonville-Vernon Parish area. Mr. Johnson began work as a school bus driver with Vernon Parish schools in 1944. He retired in 1974. He was also a cattleman and owner of Johnsonville convenience store. He was a legend in his time. He loved life and would often talk about his experiences from past generations. He had a great sense of humor. Mr. Johnson was preceded in death by his wife, Gladys Johnson. He is survived by three sons, J.L. Johnson, W.E. Johnson and Billy Ray Johnson, all of Johnsonville; four daughters, Opie Deason of Marlow, Eloise Pemberton of Dallas, Texas, Arlene Cook and Karen Dufour, both of Leesville, one brother, Jay Johnson of Las Cruses, N.M.; two sisters, Evelyn Goins and Opal McKee, both of Pitkin; 16 grandchildren, 16 greatgrandchildren and seven great- great- grandchildren. Visitation wil be held from 3-10 p.m. Friday, Aug. 30, and after 8 a.m. until time of service Saturday in the funeral home.
