[Alexander] Kirkpatrick born in Alabama, October 7, 1840, and died February 18, 1898, age 57 years, 4 months, 11 days. Moved from Alabama to Louisiana in 1847, joined the Methodist Church when about 18 years old, was married to M.J. [Mary Jane] Blackwell, September 12, 1867, joined Missionary Baptist Church at Laurel Hill November 1888, and was baptized by Elder Mike Smith together with his wife and 2 daughters. He was licensed to preach in 1894, drew his letter, and united with Flactor Church April 12, 1896 where his membership remained until his death. Brother Kirkpatrick leaves a wife, 3 daughters, 1 son to mourn his death. His funeral discourse was conducted by Elder W.H. Cain at Pine Island graveyard where his remains were commenced to he care of a loving savior." Kirkpatrick was the son of Samuel Alexander Kirkpatrick, (1818-1895) and Sarah E. Davis (1816-1895); his wife Mary Jane Blackwell was born 1843 MS, daughter of Morgan S. Blackwell amd Mary Marinda Johnson. Alexander and Mary Kirkpatrick are buried in Pine Island Cemetery, Simpson, LA.
