Claude Lionel Payton, 54, a data support employee with AT&T and a resident of 
Baton Rouge, died Tuesday, July 1, 2008, at Earl K. Long Medical Center. He 
was a U.S. Army veteran and a native of Leesville. Religious service at 
Greater Mount Olive Missionary Baptist Church, 3155 Victoria Drive, on Sunday, 
July 6, at 6 p.m., conducted by the Rev. S.C. Dixon. Dismissal on Monday, July 
7, at 10 a.m., with interment in Port Hudson National Cemetery. Survived by 
his wife, Elizabeth W. Payton; three stepdaughters, Shantell Payton, Andrea 
Lewis and Angela Shelvy; a son, Ashley Deans, of Stephenville, Texas; five 
sisters, Jackie, Beverly, Charlene, Cynthia and Paula; six brothers, Carl Jr., 
Carl III, Jeff, Bruce, Stanley and Paul; three grandchildren, Brandon Lewis, 
A'Sha Lewis and Breya Jones; aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, many other 
relatives and friends. He loved to bass fish.
