Deleon, 92, of Leesville died Wednesday, Feb. 27, 2002, in her residence. She was a native of Clarks and lived in Houston. She was retired from the Heinke/Pilot-Kroger after 26 years as a cashier. She has been a resident of Vernon Parish for the past 26 years. She was preceded in death by parents, Rev. and Mrs. Cass Crain; three brothers and two sisters; one daughter, Vonnie Chambless. Survivors include one daughter, Delma A. Wilson of Leesville; two sons, Thomas A. Weaver of Kingwood, Texas and C.L. She was a graduate of Simpson High School and attended Slagle Baptist Church. He was a veteran of World War II and the Korean War. He was a retired civil service employee with over 30 years of service at Fort Polk. Survivors include his wife, Bobbie Jean Funderburk of Slagle; one son, Jimmy Funderburk of Slagle; two daughters, Glenda Dowden of Slagle and Diane Harkins of Port Allen; and six grandchildren and two great- grandchildren. Rodgers. He retired from the U.S. Postal Service after 35 years of employment. She was a native of Pitkin and a Baptist by faith. She was a retired inspector for Dr. Pepper Bottling Co. of Lubbock, Texas, after 25 years of service. She was preceded in death by one son, Jessie James Ardoin; one daughter, Marie Strother Joy; her parents, Ezekiel and Sevelia Cooley Martin; and one brother, Huey Martin. Mr. Owers, 61, died Tuesday, April 9, 2002 in Lafayette, La. Mr. Owers was a native of Anacoco but had lived in Lafayette for the past 33 years. He was a Radiologist Specialist for Our Lady of Lourds for over 30 years. He was a deacon and a member of Northsside Baptist Church in Lafayette. He was also a 1959 graduate of Anacoco. He was retired from the U.S. Army after serving 27 years where he was a WWII and Vietnam Veteran. He was an insurance agent for John Hancock and Deputy Sheriff for Calcasieu Parish. He was a member of St. Michael's Catholic Church, Tau Kappa Epsilon Fraternity, N.R.A., La. Tippit, 92, of West Monroe will be held at 2:00 p.m. Monday, April 29, 2002, at the Mulhearn Funeral Home Chapel in West Monroe with the Rev. Dennis Anger, Rev. Raymond Cheeks, and Rev. Terry Adams officiating. Burial will follow approximately around 3:45 p.m. at the Memorial Park Cemetery in Bastrop, La. Mr. Tippit died April 26, 2002 at the Glenwood Regional Medical Center. Mr. Tippit was born October 26, 1909 in Simpson, La. and had resided in Bastrop, La. most of his life and for the past three years lived in West Monroe. He was retired from International Paper Company and was a minister of the Church of God for more than 50 years. Wives, Frances Wright Tippit and Shirley Bennett Tippit; son, Kent Tippit; his parents; nine brothers and sisters preceded Mr. Tippit in death. She was preceded in death by her husband, Winston Johnson; and one son, Bruce Johnson. The family would like to thank the staff of Bryd Regional Hospital and Dr. Matthew's office.
