Mrs. Brown was about 64 years old, and in trying to save some of her effects was fatally burned. Brown had served as Minister of Youth at Calvary Baptist Church in Alexandria and had served at First Baptist Church in Edmond, Okla., as well as Southside Baptist Church in Palestine, Texas. He had served as Minister of Education at Trinity Baptist Church since January of 1994. He also served in the U. S. Navy "Seabees" during the Vietnam Conflict. T. German 17 Mar 1939 - Funeral services for Mrs. W. T. German, 79 years, four months and six days, who died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. A. G. Her parents were pioneer citizens of Vernon parish. Her father, Mr. House, served in the war between the states. Mrs. German was a very active member of the Methodist church. She had been a Christian since her early girlhood and was always ready to lend a helping hand wherever opportunity presented itself. For the past five years, since the death of her husband, W. T. German, who died in 1927, Mrs. German has lived in the home of her daughter, Mrs. A. G. Dees. All of her children and most of her grandchildren were present at the funeral. J. Jackson 8 Dec 1933 - W. J. Jackson died at his home in Beaumont, Texas, last Thursday morning and was interred at 2 p.m. Friday at Leesville. Mr. Jackson is survived by his widow, Mrs. Lizzie Petty Jackson and five children, John, Mary, Maud, Alice and W. M. Jackson, Jr. Coming to Sabine parish about 1900 Mr. Jackson was employed employed by sawmills at Loring and Zwolle, later at Robeline. In 1905 he married Miss Lizzie Petty, daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. M. B. Petty of Many and entered, the same year, sawmill business at Bayou Scie, and later on owned and operated a wagon factory at Zwolle, followed a few years later by being identified with the late J. R. Buvens and Dory Davis in the "Wet and Windy" mill near Many, after which he moved to Leesville and was engaged in sawmill and mechanical work in Texas until his death.
