Williams, who died at his home in the Rosepine community early Friday morning, marked the passing of one of the oldest and most prominent citizens of that section of Vernon parish. Mr. Williams died at the age of 75, following a long illness. Funeral services were held at the family residence at 10 o’clock Saturday morning, with the Rev. Hamitt of DeRidder officiating. Burial was in the Elmwood cemetery under the direction of the Dennis funeral home. Mr. Williams was a native of Vernon parish, and had resided in the Rosepine section for many years, where he was held in the highest esteem by his many friends. For many years he was active in the business, civic and political affairs of his community and the parish. He served as a member of the Vernon parish School Board from 1911 to 1917, having been elected from his ward for a six year term. The deceased is survived by three daughters, Mrs. Tera Holifield, of Rosepine, Mrs. Nettie Hughes, of Oretta, and Mrs. Edna Camp, of Vidor, Texas. Also surviving are a number of grandchildren and other relatives.
