Vernie Wingate
Funeral services for Mr. Vernie M. Wingate, 89, of Pitkin were held at 
2 p.m. Monday, Feb. 24, 2003 in the Gravel Hill Baptist Church with the 
Revs. Arlen Smith and John R. Elliott officiating. Burial followed in 
the Marlow Cemetery under the direction of the Labby Memorial Funeral
Home of DeRidder. Mr. Wingate died at 11:45 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 22, 
2003 in his residence. He was a veteran of the U.S Army. Survivors 
include his wife, Eveline J. Wingate of Pitkin; two sons, John Wingate 
of Evergreen, Colo., and Robby Wingate of Pitkin; one daughter, Judy 
Cloud of Pitkin; four brothers, Horace Wingate of DeRidder, Obie 
Wingate of Leesville, Glen Wingate of Houston, Texas, and Orville 
Wingate of Pasadena, Texas; two sisters, Micki Wingate of DeRidder and 
Olene Newman of Atlanta, Ga.; six grandchildren and seven great-
grandchildren.
