Davis Marriage Bond State of Louisiana Parish of Vernon Know all men by these presents that we W.P. Caruth as principal and N.I. Terrell as security are held firmly bound unto Murphy J. Foster Governor of La and unto his successors in office in the full sum of Five hundred Dollars for the payment of which well and truly to be made we hereby bind ourselves our heirs and assigns firmly by these presents. Dated and signed at Leesville La on the the 9th day of July 1896. The conditions of the foregoing obligations as such that whereas the above principal has this day obtained from the Clerk of the Dist Court a special License to contract marriage with Miss G.A. Craft Note added by Lisa F. Franklin - W P Carruth (Wilburn Posey Carruth), my 2Great-grandfather and his 3rd wife, Georgiana (Georgia Ann) Davis. They had 2 children, Wilburn Webster Carruth (28 Sep 1897 - 1953) and Emma b 1899. Wilburn died in 1908 and is buried at Sophie Smith Cemetery in Leander next to my 2Ggrandmother, Sarah Frances Ward. Georgia and children Webster & Emma are in Pitkin Ward 5 on the 1910 census. Georgia Ann is buried in Row 17, Blue Branch Cemetery, Mt Olive Baptist Church, Pitkin, Vernon Parish, LA. It is listed correctly as G.A. Davis & W P Carruth on both the Bride's list & the Groom's list Vol A 1896-1897)
