TO THE HONORABLE, THE THIRTIETH JUDICIAL DISTRICT COURT OF LOUISIANA, IN AND FOR THE PARISH OF VERNON: PETITION FOR SUCCESSION The joint petition of NANCY LEGG, wife of G. I. Dowden, E. P. McDANIEL, MILDRED LEGG, wife of Luther Carver, all residents of Vernon Parish, Louisiana, respectfully represents: I. That JASPER LEGG died at his domicile in Vernon Parish, Louisiana, on October 22, 1930. II. That said Jasper Legg never adopted any children; that he was married but once, and then on October 29, 1874 to MARY ANN LEGG, who died at the aforesaid domicile on April 24, 1934. III. That of the union in Paragraph II above, ten children were born; namely: A. George A. Legg, born July 14, 1877 and now residing in Port Neches, Texas. B. John W. Legg, born on September 24, 1879, and died at his domicile in Vernon Parish, Louisiana, on October 31, 1939. 1. That the said John W. Legg was married but once and then on December 25, 1907 to Addie Legg, who survives him and now resides at Pickering, Louisiana; that they never adopted any children, and only two (2) children were born of their said marriage; namely: (a) Allen Legg, born on January 19, 1910; that Allen Legg died on September 2, 1936. That the said Allen Legg was married but once and then on January 8, 1932 to Lillian Patterson who survives him but whose address is unknown to your petitioners; that the said Allen Legg and Lillian Patterson never adopted any children and only one child was born of said marriage, namely; Dorothy Legg, wife of V. H. Kelly, born January 18, 1933, and residing at Jasper, Texas. (b) Allie Jane Legg, born January 2, 1909; that the said Allie Legg died on September 2, 1936, without having married, or otherwise leaving any decendants. C. Hardy Legg, born April 23, 1882. D. Liddie Legg, born August 16, 1887, and died February 29, 1935; that said Liddie Legg was married but once, and then on August 2, 1905 to Willie McDaniel who followed said Liddie Legg in death, on December 21, 1953; that said Liddie Legg and Willie McDaniel never adopted any children and of said marriage only six children were born; namely: 1. Harvey McDaniel, born September 15, 1909; 2. Emma McDaniel, born October 27, 1912; 3. Edward McDaniel, born June 26, 1915 4. Mary Ann McDaniel, wife of Claude Mayo, born August 16, 1918 5. Alfred McDaniel, born May 24, 1922, and 6. E. P. McDaniel, born May 12, 1927. E. Alfred Legg, born January 8, 1885, and died March 22, 1918; that said Alfred Legg was married but once and then on September 3, 1908 to Leah Davis who followed said Alfred Legg in death on March 16, 1953; that said Alfred Legg and said Leah Davis never adopted any children and of their said marriage only five children were born; namely: 1. John R. Legg, born September 3, 1909, and died June 2, 1950; that the said John R. Legg was married but once and then on August 24, 1924 to Nancy Critz who survives said John R. Legg, and now resides in Critz, Virginia; that the said John R. Legg and Nancy Critz never adopted any children and only one child was born; namely: (a) Betty Carolyn Legg, born August 25, 1941; said Betty Carolyn Legg is in the custody and care of her mother, the said Nancy Critz, at the Town of Critz, State of Virginia. 2. James Carl Legg, born March 15, 1912. 3. Mildred Legg, wife of Luther Carver, born February 17, 1916 4. Jesse Legg, born March 13, 1914. 5. Preston Legg, born January 11, 1918, and died June 3, 1950; that said Preston Legg was married twice: First, on September 23, 1939 to Myrtle P. Cobb, but was divorced from said Myrtle P. Cobb on January 25, 1945; that the said Preston Legg married a second time on April 12, 1946, to which marriage no children were born, nor were ever adopted. (a) That of said first marriage of Preston Legg and Myrtle P. Cobb, three children were born, namely: (1). Donald Preston Legg, age 14 years; (2). Catherine Lovetha Legg, 12 years of age; (3). Linda Sue Legg, age 8 years. That the said Preston Legg and Myrtle P. Cobb, never adopted any children; that the Succession of Preston Legg was opened in this Honorable Court; that said proceedings are recorded in full in Book "P" at Page 72 of the Succession Records of Vernon Parish, Louisiana. F. Vida Mae Legg, wife of Archie Williams, born August 11, 1890. G. James Maddison Legg, born November 11, 1893. H. Andrew Jasper Legg, born February 17, 1896. I. William Ryley Legg, born January 17, 1876, but died February 17, 1877, while still an infant and not leaving any descendants. J. Nancy Jane Legg, wife of G. I. Dowden, born January 30, 1899. IV. That the descendants left property, all of which was acquired during the existence of the community of acquets and gains which formerly existed between the said Jasper Legg and Mary Ann Legg, which is described with particularity on the detailed, descriptive list submitted to the Inheritance Tax Collector for the State of Louisiana, for this Parish, which is annexed hereto and made a part hereof. V. That decedents died intestate; that their estate is entirely free from debt; that hence there is no necessity for any administration of decedents estate, and that petitioners desire to accept his succession purely, simply and unconditionally. Detailed description of the property composing the estate of decedents herein. "The North One-half of Northwest quarter of Southeast quarter (N1/2 of NW1/4 of SE1/4); Northeast Quarter of Southeast quarter (NE1/4 of SE1/4); and East One- half of Southeast quarter of Southeast Quarter (E1/2 of SE1/4 of SE1/4), all in Township 2 North, Range 8 West, Section Twenty, and containing Eighty (80-A) Acres more or less" Signed by: E.
