LeRoy A. Pierce, a pioneer resident of Bogalusa, died Thursday following an attack of influenza and was laid to rest in the Pounds Cemetery Friday. He is survived by a widow and one child, Mrs. R.E. Keaton; three sisters and four brothers. -- Born February 19th at Brookhaven, a doughter, Francis Anita, born to Mr. and Mrs. A.B. Smith of north Franklinton. -- Died Tuesday morning, Mrs. Callie Bush Holden, died in Bogalusa hospital. She had no kinspeople here but after two years spent with Mr. and Mrs. J.L. Bateman, Jr., she was adopted into the home of Mr. and Mrs. H.B. Magee. She married in December to Porter Holden, who later went to Waco, Texas to be with his bride until she finished her University course. She is survived by her husband and a two week old baby girl, and by a brother and sisters. She was laid to rest Wednesday morning in the Bogalusa Cemetery. -- 03-05-1925 The death angel visited the home of Mr. and Mrs. J.W. Sylvest on Saturday night, February 28th, and removed a son, Lynn, aged 15 years, 6 months, and 2 days. He is survived by a father, a mother, 6 brothers, and 3 sisters, 1 brother being Burke. Deceased is survived by her husband, 3 daughters a son, also her aged father, 4 sisters, and 5 brothers. Interment was made in the Ellis Cemetery Wednesday. -- A tragic accident occurred Saturday in the mill of M.M. Miller in the 2nd ward which cost the life of his young grandson, 7 year old son of Mr. and Mrs. T.C. Miller. The child was playing about the mill and got wound up in the shaft and had his life crushed out before the machinery could be stopped. -- 04-02-1925 Born to Mr. and Mrs. Iddo L. Alford of Mt. He married Angie Brumfield and had 1 son and 3 daughters who survive him. -- Died April 28th at his home about 6 miles east of Franklinton, Thomas Jones. August 9th, 1924, George Mackie, at the Bolian home near Summit, shot and killed Mrs. Bolian and Harry Traver, young white man. He then followed Fannie, 15 year old daughter of Mrs. Bolian, some distance, shooting her, and rendering her cripple for life. -- Married May 16th, Orda Wood, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. J.D. Robins at his Bogalusa residence immediately following his return from Asherville Thursday. -- Mrs. Daisy Headley, wife of Hugh Headley, was instantly killed Saturday night near Slidell in an automobile accident. The funeral was held in Bogalusa Sunday afternoon. Jones. Burial was at the family cemetery on Saturday. She leaves 6 children, the youngest being Miss Beaulah Jones, and a sister, Mrs. Caroline Letchwoth. -- From their home in Little Rock, Arkansas, Mr. and Mrs. Ottis wired Monday of the death of their infant son Harold Ray, age 2 years, 2 months, and 20 days. The body was brought here Tuesday for burial, funeral services are being held at the home of her grandparents, Major and Mrs. J.E. Bateman. Burial made in the Ellis cemetery. -- Hazel Varndao, daughter of D.D. Varnado was married yester- day to Mr. Ray Schilling, son of Mr. and Mrs. Webster Schilling. -- Friday night, Mrs. Talmage Miller died at her home. Burial was in the Pleasant Hill church cemetery. Mrs. Miller was a daughter of Frank Johnson of Mt. Hermon. She leaves a husband and three children. -- 06-18-1925 Clyde Hinson, age 11 years and 23 days, son of Mr. and Mrs. J.R. Hinson of Georgetown, Miss., died in Bogalusa Tuesday, June 16th following an appendicitis operation. Funeral services being held at the home of his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. C.L. Varnado. Burial in the Morris cemetery. -- 06-25-1925 June 17th at the residence of his son, M.C. Poole, one mile east of Franklinton, Abner Carter Poole died at the age of 86 years, 3 months, and 24 days. Mr. Poole was a Confederate soldier. He was married during th ecivil war to Margania Wood, 11 children have been born to this union, all dying in infancy except 4, M.C. Poole, Mrs. E.D. Wascom, Mrs. R.L. McCain, and Mrs. H.N. Simmons, who just a few years ago passed away. He also leaves a brother, T.F. Poole of Fort Worth, Tx. Uncle Ab, as he was known, lived with his widowed grand- daughter, Mrs. Vera Mizell. Interment was in the Morris cemetery. -- Covington July 21st, the body of Robert W. Badon, St. Tammany Parish representative, died Saturday in Hotel Diue and was buried today in the Masonic Temple cemetery. He was born 7-3-1876 at the old Magee homestead at Spring Hill, and was a Sheriff of Washington Parish. He is survived by a wife and 5 children: T.C.W. Magee; Velma; Doyle; Lula Mae Magee. He also has a sister, Mrs. Ida Simmons, and 3 remaining brothers, J.T. and M.M. Magee of Spring Hill and E.L. Magee of Franklinton. -- Marriage License: W.F. Great Northern R.R. and who made his residence in Tylertown, Miss., died Monday at his residence in New Orleans. The body was taken to Tylertown for inter- ment Wednesday. A widow and 1 daughter, Mrs. Stella Keyes O'Neal survive. -- Died Wednesday, H.B. Magee at his summer home in Biloxi where he and Mrs. are spending their summer. He is survived by a wife, Mrs. Lillie Howard Magee and 3 brothers, A.G., W.D., and Marcus Magee. -- 07-23-1925 Hampton Burris Magee died July 15th, at the age of 71 years, 1 month, and 19 days. Interment was in the Ellis cemetery. Mr. Magee was born 5-26-1854. He married Miss Jennie Burris about 2-1885. His wife died 11-12-1914. On 10-20-1915, he married Mrs. Lillie Howard Magee. He is survived by 3 brothers, Willis D., Marcus F., and Albert G. It is said that Britt, while under the infuence of liquor, drove after dark in his car to a tenant house on Duncan's place and while there was shot at from ambush.
