Magee and the late Joe N. Magee, and the last generation , died Saturday at his home above Warnerton. He was laid to rest in the old family burying ground at Centerville church. -- Mrs. Simon Thomas die Saturday and was laid to rest near Pine. She is the wife of S.S. Thomas. Survivors are her husband and 8 children, all being sick in bed at the time of her death, except 1 son, Lacy. -- Mrs. Ed Garner of Hackley died Sunday and burial taken place on Monday. A husband and 7 children survive her. -- Mr. and Mrs. Ansil Wascom in the Faliah community lost a 2 year old baby girl late Friday, burial in the community cemetery. -- Little Erline, 20 month old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Denman Strng= field died Friday evening. Burial was in Bethel cemetery. -- Mrs. Frank Douglas of Jenkins, aged 65 years, died Tuesday and was buried at the Mt. Hermon cemetery. -- Born to Mr. and Mrs. Roy Baldwin of Mercedes, Texas, a son, Roy Angers, Jr., on December 22nd. -- 01-10-1929 Born to Mr. and Mrs. Carl Brumfield on January 3rd, a son, wieghing 8 1/2 pounds. -- Rev. Mr. C.C. Miller and Mrs. Lillian Howard Magee married in Baton Rouge on January 9th. -- Mrs. Pauline Martindale McDougall, aged mother of Hon. L.W. McDougall, died Friday. -- Marriage License: Lonnie Coleman to Cora Magee, Bogalusa; Harrison Conerly to Louisa Miller, Franklinton. -- 01-17-1929 William S. Stringfield, aged 72 1/2 years old, died Thursday. Besides his wife, Amelia Harvey Stringfield, 3 daughters, Mrs. Leona Burns, Mrs. Nancy Singleton of DeRidder, and Miss Browning Stringfield of Loranger, 4 sons, Prof. D.H., Dr. John of Bush, Dr. Victor of Socona, New Mexico, Prof. Eddie of Sunny Hill, and Bean Stringfield, who remains at home, survive. Burial at the family cemetery at the residence. -- Mrs. Carl Brumfield, formerly Miss Willie Simmons, and daughter of Mrs. L. Gillespie, died on January 12th, at the age of 25 years, 8 months, and for 2 years the wife of J. Carl Brumfield, son of Mr. and Mrs. George L. Brumfield. She leaves a young husband, and a week old infant son, mother, sisters and 3 brothers. Interment was in the Ellis cemetery. -- Mrs. John Green of Enon lost her mother, Mrs. Ardell Williams on January 10th, at age 87 years. She was taken back to her old home at Poplarville for burial beside her husband, the late Morris Williams. - Mrs. Cynthia Penton Tullos, wife of Irwin Tullos, died Thurs- day at their home in Enon. She was 39 years old. Interment was in the Pierce cemetery near Varnado. -- Ive Forest died at his home in Beaulah community last Saturday. He leaves a wife and several children. -- Blanche Alford married several days ago in New Orleans to Henry Button of Ozark, Ark. The bride is the daughter of Hon. W.J. Alford of Mt. Hermon. -- 01-24-1929 Born to Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence John Dumestre of New Orleans on January 4th, a son. -- Died January 22nd, Charles Carter Welch, aged 54 years, 1 month, and 26 days old; son of the late William and "Aunt Mima" Welch. He is survived by his widow, Mrs. Lucy Brum- field Welch, 4 sons, and 1 daughter. Interment in the Morris cemetery. -- Dupre John Bateman died Tuesday morning at age 58 years, 3 months, and 17 days old. He was born and reared in Washing- ton Parish and was the son of Jason and Emily Bateman. Mr. Bateman married Mary Foil 36 years ago and had 2 sons and 4 daughters. After Mrs. Bateman's death, he married Miss Tena McElveen, who with a daughter, Josie, survives him. Also surviving are 5 daughters, Mrs. Edna Burch, Mrs. Willie Passman, Mrs. Ola Mae Passman, and Miss Claudia Bateman, 1 son, John Bate- man, 3 sisters, Mesdames D.A. Self, F.M. Magee, and W.E. Magee, 4 brothers R.H., Dan, J.L., and Milton Bateman. Interment was in the Springfield cemetery. -- Married November 30, 1928, Lydia Joanna Smith, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. W. Survivors are her husband, Charles Seal and 5 children, 3 sisters, and 2 brothers. -- 01-31-1929 Col. William Henry Sullivan, head of Great Southern Lumber Co. at Bogalusa, died Saturday. His wife, Ellarose Salmen recently died 6 weeks previous. Col. Sullivan was 64 years old and a native of Canada. He is survived by 2 small children and by 2 children by a former marrigae, Frank Sullivan and Mrs. Elizabeth Sullivan Frith, both in Buffalo, N.Y., and by an aged mother, a brother, and a sister. -- Last Wednesday night, Mrs. Jane Morris, a sister of the former Mrs. Brumfield, died at the home of her son, Oscar Morris. Interment was in the Morris cemetery. -- Last Friday night, Mrs. Emma Magee, wife of Mr. E.M. Magee, died at her home 4 miles west of Mt. Hermon. She was born in the 2nd ward on 4-1-1861, and on 12-15-1880, she married E. Monroe Magee. They had 2 sons, Edgar and Erastus Magee, 3 daughters, Mrs. Floyd Gyson, Mrs. Lee Nauls, and Mrs. Price McMillian. Interment was in the Roberts cemetery. -- The 8 month old boy of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Gill died last night and was buried in the Mt. Hermon cemetery. -- Marriage License: Joe Garret to Esther Williams, Bogalusa; John Bickham to Clara Ward, Bogalusa; Elliott Lyles to Mattie Moak, Bogalusa; Jas. E. Hermon. -- Born to Mr. and Mrs. Tate Magee on February 2nd, a son, weigh- ing 8 pounds. -- 02-14-1929 Born to Mr. and Mrs. E.C. Bannister on February 2nd, a son, weighing 8 pounds. Mrs. Bannister is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. W.P. Knight. -- William Wascom, 75 years of age, died near Faliah on February 11th. He is survived by his wife, who was before their marriage 55 years ago, Adrine Varnado, 3 sons, Edgar D., J.D., and Ansil Wascon, 2 daughters, Mrs. Ella Corkern, and Mrs. Bessie Rogers. Interment was in the Enon cemetery. -- A telegram was received Sunday by Mr. and Mrs. F.M. Brown announcing the death of the year old baby girl of Mr. and Mrs. L.R. Armstrong of Texas. Mrs. Armstorng was the former Miss Belle Bahm, who suffers the double shock of losing her father, Albert Bahm, just a few hours previous to her baby. -- Albert Bahm, died February 7th at his home near Fisher church. He was born 10-11-1870 and was married to Eveline Louise Brown, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. F.M. Brown on 2-10-1895. Survivors are 6 boys and 7 girls. Interment was in the Bickham cemetery. -- Marriage License: Eddie Garrett to Sylvia Brown, Franklinton. -- 02-21-1929 Mrs. Kate Pierce Manning, wife of T.J. Manning died Friday, age 49 years, having been married for about 30 years. She is the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Jas. Pierce. Survivors include her husband, 3 children, Charle Guthrie of Franklinton, Miss Hilda of New Orleans and Miss Wilda of Franklinton, 3 sisters, Mrs. E.L. Magee, wife of Mayor Magee, Mrs. R.D. Wood, and Mrs. L.T. Burkhalter, 2 brothers, J.C. and Willie Pierce of Magnolia. Schilling went to Hammond to attend the funeral of Leo Dykes. Mrs. Dykes and 4 children survive him. He was a brother to Mrs. Schilling. -- Charles Wesley Pope, 26 years old of Angie and was killed by a tractor Thursday. He leaves a wife and 3 children. Mrs. Pope's parents are Dr. and Mrs. W.T. McNeece of Angie. Interment was in the Angie cemetery. -- Married February 22nd, Myrtle Denman, daughter of Dr. and Mrs. J.C. Denman to R.W. Ducet of Lafayette, son of George Ducet. They will make their home in Lafayette. -- 03-07-1929 Marriage License: William P. Corkern to Perlie F. Scarborough, Bogalusa; Ard James to Alma Singleton, Franklinton; Prentiss Crain, Varnado, to Lonnie Duncan, Franklinton; S.G. Kemp to Bevie Gerald, Franklinton. -- Wilson Holland died in Greensburg, he was from New Orleans. His funeral was Sunday. Mr. Holland was the son of the late Hon. Tom Holland who passed away a few weeks ago. -- Mrs. Eunice Spencer Simmons, wife of H. Norman Simmons, died at the home of her sister in Bogalusa on February 28th, at the age of 46 years. Interment in the Bogalusa cemetery. -- Mrs. Florence Brumfield, mother of Mrs. Mouton Bickham died March 2nd. Interment made in the Sunny Hill cemetery. She is survived by 2 daughtes, Mrs. James (Agnes) Beedon at Kentwood and Mrs. Mounton Bickham, 1 son Otis Brumfield. She was an aunt of G.M. Davis died at home in Picayune and the remains were brought back to Mt. Hermon for burial at W.A. Simmons yesterday. -- Walter Bracy was killed by lightning a few days ago. -- Mrs. Jesse W. Simmons was called to New Orleans Monday by the death of her brother, Oscar Patterson. -- Born to Mr. and Mrs. Tom J. Wood on March 28th, a daughter. -- Married March 15th in Franklinton, H.B. McNair of Tylertown, to Miss Willie Babington of Franklinton. -- 03-28-1929 Born to Mr. and Mrs. C.D. Pigott at Tylertown, a daughter, Betty Joe, weighing 7 pounds. Mrs. Pigott was formerly Mildred Moore of this place. -- Mrs. Emily Crain Breland, wife of Leroy Breland of Pine, died Sunday at the age of 64 years. She was born on August 31st. Survivors besides her husband, 4 sons, R.A. of Dallas, Capt. E.E. and E.Y. of Franklinton, and D.N. Breland of Baton Rouge, 2 daughters, Mrs. W.J. Orr of Pine, and Mrs. William Henry Knight of Foxworth, Texas. -- 04-04-1929 James Madison Burris died Thursday at the age of 71 years, 4 months, and 7 days, and was the last of 10 children of Elder J.M. Burris. His wife was the former Gabe Magee. Besides his widow, he leaves 2 sons, W.J. and W.S. Burris, 4 daughters, Mesdames, H.E. Richardson, A.E. Hood, L.V. Stringer, and Miss Mara Burris, all of this place, and Mrs. Otis Simmons of Magnolia. Brumfield, died in New Orleans on April 16th, at the age of 62 years. Her body was brought back to Franklinton for burial at the Ellis cemetery. She married her husband about 15 years ago. Survivors are her husband, sister, Mrs. G.S. Berry, mother, Mrs. Nora Metz, and 2 brothers, Eddie and Ralph Metz of Baton Rouge. She was born and reared in New Orleans. -- 05-02-1929 Marriage License: Milo Welch to Ruth Knight, Franklinton. -- Mr. D.W. (Warren) Richardson died in Bogalusa Tuesday, at the age of 81 years, 3 months, and 4 days. Eight childresn survive, sons, M.B., L.T., J.P., W.P., Stephen, Dewitt; 2 daughters, Mrs. George Mitchell of Bogalusa and Mrs. L.A. Mitchell of Sun, 22 grandchildren, and 10 great grandchildren. -- Married Friday, Albert Magee of Sunny Hill, son of Mr. and Mrs. J.O. Wood, died Thursday at the age of 52 years, 8 months, and 5 days. Interment was in the Magee cemetery across the river west of Franklinton. She is survived by her husband, 3 boys, Wiley, Albert, and John Morris, 6 daughters, Mary, Ludy, Ada Dean, Thelma, Ellan, and Ethel, 2 sisters, Mrs. E.L. Magee and Mrs. L.T. Burkhalter, 2 brothers, J.C. Pierce from here and Willie Pierce of Magnolia. -- Mrs. Nora Thomas, wife of W.H. Thomas of Lawrence Creek died May 16th, interment in the Thomas cemetery. Before her marriage, she was Nora Blackwell. She was born in Startinville, Miss., but came to La. as a child and married Eldridge Magee at the age of 17 years old. Her husband preceeded her to the grave 38 years ago. After her death, he married Addie Amacker on 3-1-1887 and had 3 children. -- Millard Filmore Daniel, born near Franklinton on 1-8-1897, died at Jackson, Miss. on 8-27-1929 at age 32 years, 7 months, and 19 days. Ernest E. Breland died Sunday at the Veteran hospital in Algiers. He was born 1-20-1885 in Pine and died at the age of 44 years, 7 months, and 25 days, and is buried in the Nobles cemetery. Besides his father, Hon. Roy Breland, he is survived by 2 sisters, 1 being Mrs. Orr, and 3 brothers. -- On Thursday, Mrs. Lou Magee Bateman, wife of F.O. Bateman of Bogalusa died. She was the daughter of the late H.W. Magee and Mrs. Mary Magee. She and her husband married on 12-1915.
